Was a cool 33 degrees for my ride to the shop this morning! I used my heated gloves and heavy leather jacket along with a scarf and was pretty comfortable. The temp tomorrow is supposed to be in the mid to upper 20's so I'll most likely wear some thermals and see how it goes.

It's about a 15 minute ride so it's not too bad and I'd like to be able to ride as long as the roads are dry and safe. Only place on me that got a little chilly were my cheeks so I may look into a face mask to help.

Dang Jim your a tough cookie! Being thin and older I just don’t like the cold weather. I can ride just fine in the low 50’s but when it gets into the 40’s I can tolerate it but not fun, if it’s in the 30’s I’m pretty much done. Good on you for hanging in there, I hope you can continue as long as possible.

I really don't like the cold weather either but decided to give it a try to see if I could manage it. With the thermals on, my insulated leather jacket and heated gloves, I've made it to 29 degrees so far. The good part is that the afternoon temps usually reach 50+ so the ride home is nice.

We typically don't see this cold of weather until February so this is really unusual for this time of the year.

I thought about buying a heated vest but having made my 15 minute journey in 29 degree temps, I don't really see the need to. Not sure how much lower I can go as far as temps go but I "think" I'll be okay down to 25. I won't ride if there's any moisture in the air or if the roads aren't dry as I'm not interested in slipping and sliding. I'm 56 years old and scrapes and bruises don't heal as easily as they used to.

One thing I have noticed about the bike is that it really has to be fully warmed up to rev above 8,000rpms. I usually let it warm up 4 to 5 minutes before leaving the garage and if I go full throttle in 1st gear leaving the house (which I really don't do much), it will have a few hiccups above 8,000rpm until it is fully warm. I'm sure it's the air temp sensor trying to make adjustments for the environment and now that I know it doesn't like it, I take it easy for the first few miles of the ride. Elevation here is close to 4,000 feet and I know that the ECU makes adjustments with a barometer sensor or something similar but it would be nice to know what my air fuel ratio is so I may use one of the spare air fuel meters and wideband sensor I have from my car and see where it's at. Not sure what I'll do if it's not where I think it should be as I haven't seen much for tuning these with the exception of the HUD Hacker software or the Magnum Tuning module and while I'd like to make some adjustments on my own, I'd feel more comfortable having some more support from users that have been able to make adjustments with the HUD software and I haven't found any yet.

Luckily I'm able to keep the bike parked inside at home and at work so I haven't had to sit on a freezing seat which does help a lot.

I have the same lean condition on my bike until it fully warms up also. if you come up with anything let me know, Jerryhawk 250 suggested I try adjusting the gulp screw which I haven't tried yet, but I plan on playing with it a little. Stay warm and ride safe Jim!

I appreciate all your work in this thread herbie. I’ve watched all the YouTube videos as well and it’s great to have good solid information on these bikes. I don’t own a kpr but rather a kpm200 but still this informations does translate to that platform.

Keep up the good work.
