Has anyone tried matching clutch plates or brake shoes and pads, I saved my old set of rear brake shoes, just for this reason, now if I can ever remember to put them in my truck, I found a place that will compare with name brand OEM, just a matter of me getting them to the shop. My next mod will be heavy duty clutch plates and springs soon as I know for sure what will work. I'll check on the brakes thursday and post my findings, I think only a few of us have rear drum type, my front are disk but the pads are round. The ones I've seen for the lifans looked square or rectangular.

my gy5 lifan has round pads in the front, the rears are kinda like half a donut??? haha...

i have to take them somewhere to get some spares to sit on my shelf before the time comes to change them...

also, does anyone know of a different bulb that will fit these lifan's? something mainstream that i can get at any store, i am considering doing an hid swap into my bike, one that has the h/l bulbs, but i need to find a major bulb that will fit, even if i have to modify the housing.... plus if i get the hid kit, it will come with two ballasts and two bulbs, spare parts !

I had Tina from TMS order me some brakes, front and back, last year and if I remember they were around $30 for both including shipping. It's been a while since I've bought brakes for any motorcycle so I really can't compare prices. It would be nice to know what will work on these bikes just so you can go to any parts house and say "I need xxxx for a ???? honda".

That would be valuable information on the brakes and clutch parts if you do get it. I know that I have considered replacing the clutch springs but wasn't sure what to look for. And I agree the brakes should be standard for something that we are all familar with. Thanks for the heads up.

Suave,
You'll definitely have to replace the housing since most all of these bikes take the BA20D bulb type. If you replace it with an H4 type housing then you'll have unlimited options.

I like these mirrors.
http://www.denniskirk.com/jsp/produc...d=11508&mmyId= I put a set on my wifes bike and the cool thing is they fold up out of the way via a double ball socket mount that has an adjustable tension.very easy install.

They have a less expensive version but were out when I had ordered hers.http://www.denniskirk.com/jsp/produc...d=11508&mmyId=

I just put this headlight on my bike (had it for months and finally got it installed)

had to make custom brackets for it but that was easy.

I even ordered both sized of mirrors that JC Whitney offered. I tried both and was not really happy. Then the day after I installed the JC Whitney mirrors, I found my original Lifan mirrors in the mud out back. I found the JC Whitney mirrors hard to adjust into a usable location and they vibrated like crazy so I switched back to the original Lifan mirrors. I found the Lifan mirrors to be a 1000% improvement. No vibration and easily adjust for perfect visibility.

I didn't buy them from here because they came with my bike but here is where they are listed: http://www.hooperimports.com/product...f_id=LF200Mirs

If I had no mirrors and had to buy again, I'd buy the more expensive Lifan mirrors instead of the JC Whitney ones.

I can't speak about the Lifan mirrors, but the stock Roketa mirrors are all but useless. Vibration is not an issue with the JC Whitney mirrors on mine and are large enough to see all of the lanes right and left. Plus, I was able to put a nice 3"x5" piece of retro reflective orange tape (diamond grade) just like is used for stop signs on the back of the mirrors since they are nice and flat. At night, they almost look like acc. lights when oncoming traffic shines their lights on them. The other benefit is that it distinguishes it as a "motorcycle" and not a moped. Mopeds just get no respect around these parts. I guess because that is the transportation of choice for DUI's. The orange is also surronding my headlight so you can't miss me coming, especially at night. http://www.chinariders.net/gallery2/...g2_itemId=4589

The light is a ACERBIS DHH.
http://www.acerbis.com/p107_headlight/3026.html
I had to make the two side mount brackets and used two cable clamps to help mount it.I worry about the lack of any rubber mounts on the bulb life but if I need to I can make rubber mounted brackets.

I had used the bulb that came in it on the stock light so when I installed this I needed a bulb and my wife went and got me the right socketed bulb but 12v-45w/45w.It is very bright.

I will be buying the mirrors from DK or wherever I find them, the fact that they fold up and are still very useable just fits me fine.
