you know, I did think about it, when I was down there I noticed a little more slack then usual (when I first got it I commented on how tight it was). But I thought to myself "surely this couldnt be the problem), I will give it a try and report back.

Ditto on the chain. Try to make sure it's not to tight. When you sit on it the chain will get tighter. So try to set the slack so you have a little slack when you are sitting on the bike with the rear end compressed.

ok, before I get to it, whats the proper procedure to adjusting the chain? Just loosen the nuts and move the wheel?

I only loosen the axle a small amount, because I want the adjustment nuts to be snug as a go. Then when I get the chain where I want it, I'll tighten the axle back down.

ON A SIDE NOTE: I recently had to retighten my engine mounting bolts. I had lock-nuts on them too. I had some vibes that started this past weekend and I looked over the whole bike. I saw all the bolts were there, but did not check to see if they were tight. I went through everything before I finally decided to check the bolts one good time. Finally found that I had a loose lower bolt (the same one I replaced with a lock nut!!) So, this may be worth a go. I also found I had a broken tab on my muffler lower mount to the frame. I fixed that with band clamp. It's behind the panel so you really can't see it, but this was adding to some of the vibes too. NOW, everything is back to normal.

I'd hate to think it's your tranny. But you could check it by getting up to the bad vibe speed and pulling in the clutch while keeping the RPM's the same. If it goes away then you may have a tranny problem.

I wonder if dropping your oil into a CLEAN container would show you anything like little chunks of metal or just a high metalic amount of particles.

If something in there is going\wearing it should have some debri I'd think.

Not that it would help other than to maybe indicate there is a problem.

TA-DA!!! I AM STUPID!!

so I found it, a loose bolt, just like you all said. Thing is, it wouldnt tighten on one end, but did on the other. Add to the fact that plastic and wires were in the way.

thanks for all the help guys, put about 30-40 miles on it sunday without a hitch.

its just so damn cold out now, brrr.

Well keep an eye on it, cause I've had two break. I replaced those with grade-8 1/2" bolts and all is ok. I just think the original bolts are just not up for the task.
