We needed that light on those extra dark moonless Idaho backroads at the end of that excellent day's dirt ride, Brother Spud. Boy it gets cold in those mountains when the sun sets I'll tell you what! 8O

At the Zong's quick highway cruising speed of 60 MPH the excellent headlight was a big safety bonus.

Incidentally, the Zongshen headlight shroud also offers a good bit of wind protection. In addition, I have learned to enjoy the storage space available between the stock headlight shroud, and the instrument cluster. I frequently store small packages in that area when I am running errands around town. For example, a bag of "fast food" fits very conveniently in that small storage space.

If you're going to ride in the Rocky Mountains of Idaho, dress in layers! Elevation changes and fluctuations in daily temperature necessitate the ability to add, and shed layers of clothes.

The Zong's excellent headlight helped to spare me from serious injury two days ago, when two deer decided to jump across the road in front of me in the twilight! 8O Because of the wind protection, storage space, and most importantly, the excellent light pattern, I am very reluctant to switch from the stock Zongshen headlight.

How can I forget? That was big owl! He acutally brushed me with his wingtips! 8O What was the wingspan on that bird?

Honestly, those two deer could have seriously injured, or killed me. :( I'm glad I had the excellent, H4, Zongshen headlight on high beam. You can't have too much light when riding at night.

You can learn to post photographs of your bike by reading the following thread.

We eagerly await photos of your X-Ranger.

oh and the bike is getting hard and harder to start i think its carb related but it might be the cdi going out but i dont think it has the right jets in it. it has a 135 hex main jet and a unmarked slow jet so i think it might be getting to much fuel not sure what are the stock jets and what jets do people usualy run and what kind of carb is it cloned of? oh and my starter doesn't want to work when i go to push the starter button the starter relay just makes clicking sounds well i already swap relays and the battery is fully charged checked my connections i even opened up my starter and checked to see if everything was alright and everything seemed to be ok but idk any ideas to whats wrong would it be my starter maybe my starter button?

I'll leave the starter button question to Spud, as he's had experience there.

That Uni pod filter is probably making the carb a little lean. I'd try a fatter slow jet and main jet.

You've got a great foundation to start with. 8)

I agree with Weld. The bike looks pretty good; you have a very good base to start from.

Unlike just about every bike, the Zong (X-Ranger) is jetted very rich from the factory. The TW200 guys are upgrading to size 130, and size 132, Mikuni main jets in their carburetors. In contrast, the Zong already has a size 135, main jet.

Indeed, if the diaphragm is not seated correctly, you have probably found your starting problem. I'm sure you will also discover that everything you ever wanted to know about your Zong (X-Ranger), but were afraid to ask, is contained within the "Zong Sticky."

Your starter button is certainly suspect; I suggest you check it first. Underneath the starter button you will find a small, phillips head screw. To inspect/clean the starter button, remove the screw, and pull down on the small plastic box. For $3.99, I suggest your replace the stock starter button with a Radio Shack STDP switch, as shown in the following thread.

I forgot to add, thanks for posting the photographs of your Zong (X-Ranger). Who's hiding behind the bike in the first photograph? Is that your dog? If so, his paw looks very much like a human hand! :P

P.S. You did a great job with your Komoto 250!
