That makes sense. I know Buford never shirks his duty.

My uncle always had one similar to this. I liked this body style too.

Last night I got the scrap metal out of the bed and then I clean the contacts on the cap and rotor. I think spark is okay, but it seems to be starving for fuel.

Picked up all new filters for the engine at the parts store. Will change out the dirty oil and hopefully a new fuel filter will help.

The seller had a short bed too. I would like to get that one also, but he wasn't ready to sell it.

This truck was in better condition anyway. It looks worse than it is.

In the next 5 years I would like to drop it using a crown vic suspension and maybe even swap a 4.6 with the overdrive transmission.

New fuel filter and truck runs much better. I think some of the old gas is getting out. Also the fuel gauge started working. Wondering if the sender was stuck from sitting.

Lots of rust particles in the filter. Probably be changing a few of them until we get the tank flushed out.

On to the transmission. Confirmed that we have a C4 trans. According to the dipstick it is full and does not appear to be leaking. Since we got it to run and not stall every 20 feet we took it down the road. It seems to me that it is stuck in 2nd gear. Starts off in second unless you pull it into 1st. Does not seem to shift into drive.

I think this transmission is simple enough that even I can fix it. Option is to install an AOD too. Stay tuned for video that is uploading.

Depending on your time and money and how involved you're going to be with this project, I would definitely consider going from top to bottom on that fuel system. You know it is basically rotten. It's going to leave you and your kids on the side of the road if you let it. Especially with this alcohol fuel these days it's going to eat it up, what's left of it, quick. It's going to look great with a couple of 2 wheelers strapped in the bed. yep that was a great pic of middle America . God bless the USA (we need it)

I may be looking at a 80 f100 monday. Need transportation bad. For the second time in 2 years my 2001 malibu had the right front wheel flop loose from some thing breaking that holds the rack. Going to junk it instead of repair. Both times I was backing out of a drive, it could have happened at 70 in traffic, people get dead when that happens. No more chevys for me.

I think that I am only going to use one tank. Be easier to just get one fully cleaned and operational. My daughter is 9. She has a few years before driving time. Until then we can keep making repairs and restoration. I like the body how it is, but the underneath will need updates.

I think I need to replace all the vacuum lines and the rubber fuel lines.
