Oh no! You asked the dreaded question! 8O DUCK!

I'm a synth guy but I always break em in on dino. Right now, I just put some Chevron 10W-40 in it. It exceeded the recommended rating and most importantly, it's what I had in the garage. 8)
With filter, takes a quart. Without changing the filter. My site glass hit the full mark (bike verticle, not on stand) at a little less than a quart.

It's a running joke on all motorcycle/car forums. More bandwidth has been needlessly burnt by people chattering back and forth about what's the best oil and why.
That question alone generally sparks 50 responses.

Oil change

Believe I changed the oil / filter after the recommended 300-500K... used a synthetic. I'm now up to about 1600K, and without refering to the owner's manual... may be a bit overdue?
BTW, nice pics... mine is still stock w/ extended mirrors (chrome - darn, not the black stock motif).

Welcome to the forum!

On a street bike every 1,000 miles with good oil is plenty frequent enough.

Welcome to these forums, Clarke! I think it's now a good time for you to change your motor oil. 1,600 kms is roughly equivalent to 1,000 miles, the oil change interval I would recommend.

A Fram 131 filter or equivilent is what you'll be looking for.

You have done a good job recruiting, Andrew; keep up the good work! These forums are the best for all Chinese motorcycles. Indeed, these forums are superb even if one does not own a Chinese motorcycle. We have a great bunch of helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable people as members of these forums, and we are very glad to welcome your acquaintances.
