My problem as a new rider with a new bike and helmet shopping is that I am right on the cusp of L or XL depending on the brand.
As Dan mentioned, the 2 local shops in my area have very limited selection and that selection is ALWAYS the $400 plus helmets. FML... |

I have 2 AFX helmets. I have the FX-39 and an FX-17. Both are great helmets. Look at Dennis Kirk for helmets. They have free returns.
Let us know what you decide! Enjoy the Ride!

I went with the AFX FX-39. I think I might have owned this helmet before (when I first bought my Bashan "Hawk" in 2017). I had a dual sport helmet, but I can't remember what make/model it was. I ended up doing more street riding so I sold the dual sport helmet and bought the more street oriented Scorpion r710.
On the negative side, I do remember the visor on the dual sport liking to catch in the wind and pulling and pushing my head a little. It never bothered me enough to remove the visor; I like the look of the helmet with the visor installed. I got it for a very good price, $49 with free shipping. With the positive reviews and the availability of accessories like new face shields and new liners, I figured I couldn't go wrong. It'll serve my purpose for the time being with the 2 bikes and I'll get a more street helmet if I think I need it (later). |
