Spokes showed up today.. turned out to be bicycle spokes. I went to lace them up as practice for when the real things come.. but they fell right through the holes on the flanges.

Check out the slight damage on the hub. That shouldn't affect anything, right? The flanges are both still straight and none of the holes actually look out of round. Just a little scarred on the flanges.

Motocheez spokes didn't show up yet, and also have 165x4mm spokes coming. The ones that showed up were 170mm but like 2mm thick. 170mm was a little longer than my original spokes, so the 165's should be perfect. They'll be here tomorrow. Nobody wants to lace my wheel up for me, so I am going to be doing it myself!

I put my spokes up to a tape measure (I measured spokes from each side of the hub, just in case) and got 6 9/16," which is about 166mm. 165mm spokes were a lot easier to find. Hopefully 165 works, and I dont need to go get 170s.. I guess I was just bugging out because of the bend (J?) in the spokes, thought it was a huge deal.. we'll see

So, I have the set I ordered from Motocheez.com's Hawk250 parts list, AND this new set coming. Hopefully something works!! The Excel rim I ordered will be here tomorrow. The tube showed up today. The Kenda shows up Saturday. Its like Christmas time all over again!

If Buchanan gets back to me, I'll most likely still send them some spokes to copy. That is definitely still the best route
where did you order the wheel from?

I bought the rim on Amazon. Strange situation. It was the "only 1 left." There was 100% a tire and spokes mounted on this rim at some point.

The new spokes are about 2mm longer than the originals.
If a bit of spoke sticks out past the nipple, can I just use a dremmel on them? Or should I be more concerned about the amount of threads going into the nipples?

The picture below shows the spokes coming to the end of the nipples, but they are still a little loose. They may all stick out a bit after I tighten them tomorrow.

If nobody replies I will continue on and post updates as they occur . Somebody's gotta be reading this!

You're right, some of those were definitely my fault for not tightening them regularly. I ride a lot of rocky trails and had a few break after some good weird wacks on rocks too. I think I've replaced every spoke on the rear disc side at this point. They do rattle loose very quickly, then they break. Now I tighten them after every few rides. I've also lowered my air pressure quite a bit and a softer rear shock. I've had good luck lately

I think I ordered the ones Jerry Hawk linked to from aliexpress. It took a few weeks, but wasn't a terrible wait.

In the picture, they look fine. If they stick out too far, it'll puncture your rim strip and inner tube. Those look flush to me.

Unfortunately, those were still loose in the picture. 165mm is TOO LONG

Update:
I got 4 sets of spokes shipped to me. 2 are still on the way, but of all 4 sets, nothing was correct. The last set I got was the right length, but the nipples were so small they popped through the spoke holes on the rim! Im tired of relacing this wheel. I am tired of playing this game, so I just ordered a whole CSC TT250 wheel. Let's hope its the same. I'll still build this one.. good to have a spare apparently ..lol

Ugh. Yeah. The motocheez spokes I ordered haven't even left china yet. If they don't work, I'm calling Buchanan..

I ordered one set of spokes listed on ebay and linked on one of these forums and the spokes were thinner and the nipples were smaller. The aliexpress spokes were exactly right.

I know these chinese bikes can get really frustrating, but it seems like a new wheel is around $70. So, parts are cheap, which I've found is both good and bad.

This one is a 17 inch:

I could have just bought a new wheel for the price of two packs of spokes.

Yea, the wheel was $135.. but they just emailed me saying its not in stock, and I could either cancel the order, or wait 4-6 weeks. Told her to cancel my order and I just ordered a hawk DLX wheel from Orion for $159

Well, I ordered a set of spokes from CSC with expedited shipping. . But the next day (yesterday) spokes I ordered from walmart.com showed up.. and they wound up being a perfect fit! Just got home from riding!

https://www.walmart.com/ip/36pcs-4mm...ngth/218360530

I do believe these spokes would also work with the Hawk DLX and the CSC TT250

For anyone who's interested, I'm still riding the crap out of this thing. The wheel is holding up just fine! Don't let anyone tell you that you can't lace your own wheel!
