It could be interesting but I have a fear of the larger the displacement, the closer we're getting to "Fastdoc's PitsterPro 400 from Hell". ;-)

That thought was in the back of my mind as well.

Doesn't appear to be a whole lot of difference in these two bikes, at least design wise. Check out the dashes.

ok, i see that someone else saw one too last september and posted the engine tag here. fellow who has ridden both says lots stronger than the 250s , something close to 20 ft/lbs of torque.
how did you determine it was a 299 hawk? mine had a sticker on the motor which said 299, but I considered it a typo as all the other info I got with it was 229.

The dash photo on the right appears to have larger diameter fork legs and fork caps. Must be model variations?
Maybe there are a lot of differences, they just source their dashes from the same supplier? Need to get the two bikes parked next to each other.

Many of these Hondoids share tons of the same parts. The Zong Sierra (Yamaha) and the QLink, Konker, SSR, etc.. (Suzuki) are the only truly different bikes I've seen in my ten years of being involved with CB's.

It doesn't matter who's "brand" it may be. It's been that way on Hondoid CB's forever and I doubt will truly one-off anytime soon. Much more cost effective to get known-good parts from mass manufacturers and assemble.

Yes, I agree. The cases are nowhere near big enough to handle that necessary increase in bore/stroke. And the rest of the story is .... 1 1/4 quarts of oil is nowhere enough to deal with the heat that a 270 cc engine develops.

I agree with you. Once a four stroke single gets north of about 230cc, I think an oil cooler is mandatory, if only for added volume.

Or dry sump oiling with a 3 quart tank.
