I think that all those bikes can do better than the reported mileage too. That must be corner carving, high speed riding mileage.

An FI ex250 would be a nice step up.

I have heard that 60-70mpg is common on a ninja 250 ridden with care.

I bet the fuel injected Honda will get even better gas mileage.

depends on the gear spud, if the honda's gearing is low you are crusing at a higher rpm

I'm basing my estimation on the fuel mileage reports given in the different reviews, Mike. If my memory serves me correctly, I believe the fuel injected Honda got better gas mileage in every review I read.

my bad, lol im a little biased towards the honda.. in all honesty a apples to apples comparison cant be done for the gas milage of a fi bike and a carbed bike..

the carbed bike is cave tech, while the fi bike is new tech. now WHEN kiwi puts out a fi 250r then a fair comparison can be made and comes down to gearing and drive habit.

I geared mine up a tooth on the countershaft and rode it, ummmmm.... aggressively and that's about the mileage I got. IIRC I had that bike about 5,000 miles and one Spring and half of Summer. It saw a LOT of use!

That is phenomenal fuel mileage for aggressive riding, Doc! In all sincerity, I believe both these bikes are great little motorcycles. Has anybody actually seen the CBR250R? I'm going to ask about it at my Honda dealer; I would love to see one.

Regarding price, I am impressed Honda has priced the fuel injected, CBR250 the same as the carbureted, Ninja 250R. However, you can find a lot of great deals on used Ninjettes. The little Honda is a new bike, and its price will remain high for quite a while.

As I recall the little Ninja had a big tank and excellent range.

BTW I found out my LXT has a 2.5 gallon tank, not a 3 as I thought, but who knows? It's hard to get reliable data on these things.

It's no wonder you ran out of fuel! That gas tank is far too small for rural Idaho.

It would have been OK, probably, if I had a warning/a useful reserve...
