FWIW, there are some excellent bible apps for your iPhone, which negates the need to carry your Palm.

I have the Olive Tree and One Year Bible apps on the cellphone.

I still like my antique Palm because all my notes and highlights are in it for the past 7 or so years I have been using it. No big deal, but I kind of like it.

I have an old Dell Axim PDA laying around; perhaps that would be a good use for it.

Report:

I used the battery pack with the gloves and jacket liner today on the YZ. I used the elements about 1.5 hours. It was pretty warm today (40's) so only ran them at part power.

I used up 60% of the battery power.

About what I expected but less than I hoped for. It will work for me.

Thanks for the good report, Doc. I seriously doubt you will find a stronger battery for your heated gear than the Micro-start. In addition, this device can jump start your cars, motorcycles, and airplane. The Micro-start also has a great flashlight, and it will recharge you cell phone, as well as power almost any other battery operated device you can imagine. The Micro-start also costs much less than the Gerbings battery you were initially considering.

That's a fact! I like it.

That was the good news. Bad news is I changed the tire on the YZF for a new 952 and its flat. I think I pinched it with the rim lock. Rats. I've had it with home tire changes.

One small disadvantage of this battery is the plug fits into the side of it, which makes it a little bit harder to put it into your pocket. Hard to describe, but if you look at the picture on the website, you will see. Perhaps I could find a 90° adapter. As it is, sometimes the plug will pull out because of bad geometry while it is in my pocket. Not a big problem.

Do you use a tire changing stand? I don't want to jinx myself, but I change a lot of motorcycle tires, and I have never pinched a tube.

You can certainly find a plug with a 90 degree angle. My Heatcore jacket has a plug with a 90 degree angle, and it would work great with the Micro-start.

I just learned the Micro-Start XP3 employs lithium cobalt batteries.

http://www.advrider.com/forums/showt...7#post23192837

According to the experts, one should observe the following precautions. Lithium cobalt batteries should be charged in a safe place, and should not be charged while unattended. I'm sure you won't have any problems, but it's best to observe these precautions.

Have you used your Micro-Start XP3 lately? Do you have an update for us?

I do not, I use the floor and curse words.

I am pleased to say I have no update because.....

It has not been cold enough lately to need the electrics on the YZF. Praise God a mild winter so far. Mild temps, no white $#@&.

Indeed I rode the Yamaha 3 hours today and it was near 60 degrees, at least it was in town. Sunny, but very windy though. Oh well, good enough for me :-)

Interesting. I have observed that the battery does not get particularly warm during use or charging.
