Yeah I'm starting to get that and on your valve advise I'll probably try more clearance at next oil change (which is likely in 100 miles if it reacts like the last 100). I won't complain if it goes 300 though. 👌

dremmel \ grind a new slot into it running cross the initial slot.

Meaning make a plus sign, like for a phillips head screw driver.

Don't grind to deep though

sorry I'm a valve adjusting noob and it was the only thing I had trouble with in terms of tinkering.

please allow others to chime in here.

Yes, there is such a thing as too much ticking. Instead of a tap tap sound it becomes more of a knock or slap sound, that is too much. The only way to know the difference is by experience as it is something hard to describe. Either way, this type of valvetrain is noisy by nature.

There's alot of things that can be done here. Being that the head of that screw is a rather large diameter I would take a chisel and put a good indentation in the outer edge of the head and then I would put a punch in the indentation and tap it at an angle in the direction you want it to turn. It shouldn't take much, maybe a couple taps.

First time enduro purchase so I dont know what to expect. At first before the lifter adjustment it only ticked (or clicked) at a higher (Mid) RPM. Now that I have painfully adjusted to a .003 intake and .005 exhaust I get the clicking though out the spectrum. I found that when tightening the set nut .002 higher (.007 for the exhaust) it came in at a tight .005 because I couldnt stop the set screw from tightening while setting the set nut.

Reading multiple posts with the same catch phrase "Clicky is good" makes me feel better. (but of course how much is too much?) "How much clicky is too much clicky"

Loud valves save lives is a saying among the pushrod bike crowd.

How loud is too loud? Well, that's the thing. It's almost that you'll know. It won't sound healthy. A little tick and rattle in there means there's space for valves to move. If it sounds sort of cringy and makes you question it, double check your work.

Why did you set exhaust so much higher than intake? Spec is 0.002" for both.

I set both to 0.003" on mine and it's a little tappy, but seeing as how factory set them to basically 0 lash, it's quite good.

The best method IMHO for valve adjustment is the go no go method. Say you want to set the valve clearance to .003in Intake .005in Exhaust then you will need .003in and .004in feeler gauge for Intake. Adjust your valves to the .003in and tighten down, when you have it right the .003 will slide snuggly through and the .004in will not go in at all. For exhaust when .005in slides snuggly through and .006in will not go through then you know your valves are set right and just go ride and forget about it until next adjustment interval.
