Starter system impression.

Thanks for the starter system tutorial, Spud. As everyone else says, you are a treasure.

Reading it (I didn't watch the videos) I have to say I am seriously friggin' impressed with the design!

I have NEVER seen a roller sprag clutch that sturdy on such a little engine.

And the reduction gear fail-safe is simply brilliant!

I wish I knew who designed the engine, and I'm grateful to Zongshen for making it, and to CSC for bringing it here.

Indeed, the NC250 is a wonderful little engine. It well manufactured, beautifully designed, easy to work on, and elegant in its simplicity. You noticed the designers used the same roller sprag clutch employed in the Ducati 1098. Here is what Wikipedia says about that Ducati bike.

The 1098/1098 S makes a manufacturer claimed 160 hp (119 kW), 90.4 lb·ft (123 N·m) torque, and weighs 173 kg (381 lb). The 0-60 mph time is less than 3.0 seconds and top speed is estimated at 180 mph (290 km/h).[2] The 1098 R, with its larger displacement 1198 cc engine, makes a manufacturer claimed 180 hp (134 kW), 99.1 lb·ft (134 N·m) torque. All these figures give the 1098 the highest torque-to-weight ratio of any production sport bike ever made.

The evidence continues to support the fact that this engine is an Italian design, manufactured to high standards of quality by Zongshen. However, I don't know the name of the design firm.

Indeed, we are very lucky such a committed, reputable company as CSC decided to import this motorcycle to North America.

If CSC tells us the names of the ships, I would enjoy watching the 2016 bikes sail down the Yangtze River, and travel across the big pond to Long Beach.

Ryan did a nice video for the CSC skid plate. Ryan is very polite and helpful every time I speak with him on the telephone; it's certainly nice to see him in a video.

Apparently they took the Zongshen RC3 bikes on a 10,000 kilometer test ride. Here is the video. There is a thread dedicated to the RC3 at the following link.

I'm really curious how the engine compares in weight and dimensions to the air cooled TT engine.
