I bought a stiffer spring from Cogent Dynamics for my XT225 shock absorber. I compressed the stock spring far enough to get it off the shock with the MacPherson Strut Spring Compressor Set from Harbor Freight.

This HF tool costs half as much as the Tusk tool, and I'm sure it isn't one-quarter as good. I'll be getting the Tusk tool for my next job.

Compressing the new spring is easy, since you can employ, or make, a tool with a threaded rod which goes down the middle of the spring. I went to AutoZone and borrowed such a tool, then secured the compressed spring with many zip ties before I removed the tool. After installing the new spring, I cut the zip ties. Some people use hose clamps.

If you find the Tusk tool on Taobao, please let me know. I'm getting ready to place another order with TBTrends.

The Kayo T6 dirt bike employs the same engine as the new, Zongshen RX3 (ZS250GY-3). Although the engine and transmission share the same oil, the NC250/ZS177MM engine has two oil drain plugs. The engine also has two coarse oil filters, and a fine oil filter. The following video shows how to change the oil, and service the oil filters for the NC250 engine.

Good info! So far, we've found three bikes that use this engine. I wonder of there are more.

This is a well proven engine which has been refined for about six years, and has been installed in a good number of Chinese motorcycles.

Does Piaggio design engines? If so, perhaps Piaggio is the Italian firm which designed the Zongshen NC250/ZS177MM engine.

The NC250 engines in the Zongshen RX3 and SSR SR250R have two primary differences. The RX3 engine has electronic fuel injection; the SR250R engine has a carburetor. The RX3 engine has a 6-speed transmission; the SR250R engine has a 5-speed transmission.

I would also like to see other Zongshen bikes sold here. However, in case some people aren't aware, SSR is a different Chinese brand, and Zongshen only supplies the NC250 engine for the SSR SR250R.

The SSR SR250R is currently being sold by at least two online vendors.

Incidentally, if your Zongshen RX3 is shipped to you in the crate, you will need to assemble the bike. Assembly of the bike essentially consists of installing the handlebars, controls, and the front wheel. The following video shows the basic assembly process. Assembly is facilitated greatly if you have a helper. This video demonstrates the assembly of the SSR SR250R motorcycle we have been discussing in the last few posts.

I would have preferred if CSC imported a carb version, but I am not sure if Zongshen even offers this bike with a carb. Most likely, the SSR is spec'd that way, or is a proprietary engine altogether, much like the TMEC 200 uses a proprietary Zongshen air-cooled engine (heck, any bike manufacturer that does not have the capabilities to manufacture their own engine essentially utilizes a proprietary engine since each manufacturer has to get each bike, or bike platform, certified). The EPA is not as strict on off-road engines vs. on-road.

If I was a small Chinese bike manufacturer, ala TMEC, I would probably try to get a similar engine to the one used in the SSR as my engine of choice (use carb vs. fuel injection). I believe Pitster Pro had a liquid-cooled streetable enduro made by Shuopu Science and Technology http://www.shuopuscience.com/ (it was never technically certified as EPA/DOT) offered with 26 hp, but that engine was made by Loncin, not Zongshen. The newer Pitster Pro enduros might still be manufactured by Shuopu as their site suggests, hence why their larger bikes tend to be unique and seemingly higher quality (with much higher prices to match)
