Thanks for posting the information, and the thread link, Andrew. The black headlight looks very nice on your bike!

A dealer nearby has two 2008 Qlinks for $1850. Have to add tax and license to that--no freight or setup fees. I'd say $1550 is a very good price.

Does anyone watch the TV show 'V'? I noticed the main characters son drive a duel bike, spray painted black. It's definatly a Q link!

I don't watch much TV but I did see that clip somewhere on line. Very cool. IIRC it was filmed in Vancouver, BC so it was likely the Canadian version, a Konker.

Wow! You got 800KM on one cable! That's pretty good. Razz

You will see the Suzuki cable is much more flexible, more 'supple' and much smoother. I expect it would last for many years. Very Happy

Just wanted someone to confirm that a speedometer cable for a DR200SE will fit the QLINK. My odometer is stuck at 530km. LOL. That's pretty pathetic. I'm debating whether to make a warranty claim or spring the US$26 or so for a Suzuki cable if that'll last longer.

Thanks

Consider it confirmed. I replaced it on 2 Q's and the Suzuki unit never failed. A repalcement Q cable will fail so don't bother.

Doc, I did a 'pre-emptive strike' on my new Q when I first got it and pulled the cable, cleaned and lubed both the cable and sheath with Teflon spray. I'm curious to see how long it will actually live now.

I expect about as long as the new or replacement cables on my Q's lasted until I upgraded. I did the same thing. They always broke about a inch above the sending gear/unit where there is a modest bend. The Suzuki cable is much more 'supple' and compliant, not hard plasticy and makes the bend smoother.

Of course try to maximize the life in the original cable, and just order a new one if you need it. The bike works fine without a speedometer, it's not like a CDI or something.

Thanks for the prompt reply. I just hope this will be the only part that breaks so soon. Still somewhat wary of a Chinese bike. So far so good though. Only wish it had a bit more power. Even minivans leave me behind off the line.

It's sorta a CB that thinks its Japanese. You won't have any problems. Plus you have a 2 yea guarantee. Ride, enjoy, repeat.
