I talked and sent plans and picture to one of the other fabricators we work with on Friday. He was on his way out of town on a hunting trip but said he will work on it today. I'll give him a call this afternoon to see what the cost will be. He seemed very interested in working on it.

Just got off the phone with the fabricator. He will have a price for me in the morning for steel and aluminum.

Okay, I got pricing back. It looks like I'll be able to do the 1/8" steel for about $95 and 1/8" aluminum for about $110. I'm getting him to make one out of steel to do a mock up for mounting holes and for center stand mounting. He is going to work up a price on the stand too. As soon as I get that I'll post that cost. For those who are interested please PM me so I will know approx. how many I'll need him to produce for the 1st batch.

The fabricator should be dropping off the 1st steel skid today or tomorrow so I can do mock up for mounting holes over the weekend. Should have a price on the center stand today. It won't be long before they will be available. Thanksgiving holidays may delay the start of production. I'll post pictures when I get it and after it is installed.

I have to go pick up the skid plate at noon. He was going to drop it off but his daughters getting married today so I guess that's a good enough excuse for me . lol

Just picked up the skid plate. I'll post pictures of the final product over the weekend.

Now the bad news. Well not so bad. I got a quote on fabricating the center stand . You don't even want to know how much they want to charge. The same guy that cut and bent the skid plate out sources these kind of small project and had gotten a few quotes for me. They must of thought this was something for NASA for the future space shuttle to Mars. So it looks like I'll be doing the fabrication which will take a little longer to get done due to I have a regular job that I work 10-11 hrs. a day. So this will have to be done on weekends. I made the original stand out of materials I had laying around so I'll have to pick up the materials and figure out how much I'll have to sell it for.

Thanks, just have to check the fit and I'm having the aluminum one cut out the beginning of next week.

The center stands are more labor intensive, so it's not surprising that the quotes were ridiculous, especially for a small batch basis. Others may have been cheaper per unit, but had a required minium order that bumped the price back up.
