THAT would scare the shit out of me. Having a guy who'll answer the phone and speak English has been a definite plus in comparison to ordering off of alibaba. But, Alibaba has some awesome bikes on there that we just can't get here. Trouble wit those are the EPA regulations....think getting plates on a Hawk is a gamble? Try it with a bike straight off the boat LoL

Direct from China--probably won't happen due to EPA (I mean stopped at the port not going to happen). Alan is literally less than 2 miles from Kandi USA, the distributor. He is well schooled on filing warranty forms (from a wholesaler's point of view) for customers, as well, he does this for dealers who sell TGB scooters as Excalibur is the distributor for TGB. Not that I am implying you say he might be incompetent, but I want to point out that he is probably more schooled in this than the (most likely overwhelmed) person who fills out these things at mail-order companies like Superior or Powersportsmax. Those guys fill out their claim, and send it over to the distributor and then ignore your phone calls and emails; or try to make you feel better and answer your emails with vague replies. In other words, he has relationships with people at the company. For instance, he is not offering the Storm or the Enforcer like I told him he should because he is hesitant since he does not know anyone at the distributor. At least not yet. He wants to know if they can back up the product, even a little bit. With his ongoing relationship with Kandi, he knows that he would have little to no issues getting things resolved.

The fact that he sells few Chinabikes allows him time to deal with any potential issues that arise after sale. Again, his main line is TGB scooters, so he is not counting on moving hundreds of low-priced powersports products per month like the typical online mail order dealer would. The rest of any Chinese products he sells are to his existing dealers (some of those who might not even carry TGB scooters, but have bought Taotao, Kandi, Icebear, SSR, etc. from Excalibur for years).

Simon, the way you've steered me towards Alan for my purchase and then based upon the way you speak about him makes me comfortable in my CB purchase decision. I really do hope my experience continues to be trouble free, but having a guy like Alan on the other end of my phone keeps my Brozz anxiety to a bare minimum LoL

Yep, if he's half as good as you say it's worth the extra $50-$100 or whatever for the piece of mind and to maybe have an actual warranty of some sort if something does go wrong. I hope you don't ever have to find out.

I'm still Ben Franklin'in it

I did find a thread around here talking about a guy who bought a bike from Excalibur that had the chain tensioner mount welded in the wrong place, and the bottom line was they never fixed it...I'm not sure if it's the same Excalibur or not.

Sending good vibes your way for a PERFECT condition Brozz arriving tomorrow! At least the weather has been decent for it's trip across the country!

I'm keeping fry fingers crossed. at 5:00AM my tracking number indicated that it arrived in Buffalo late yesterday, I'm secretly hoping it shows up today so I can offload it in myself, but I'm only here until 2:30. I might just work until 4:30 just in case.

I would love to see a pic of your spoke covers. Maybe it will help me decide between black or green

He's already made his money at that point and once again I'm at the mercy of a drop shipper. I guess that the price you pay for a "deal"...But now we are up over $1,700 and the deal keeps getting to be less of one, considering it is essentially an as-is sale with zero warranty, regardless of what they say.

I suppose I should call him and ask a few questions and get a feel for it.

I almost feel like going to Alibaba and ordering direct from China...The risk is probably about the same and they might get it here faster from China...sad but true! Probably less risk because it would cut out the drop shipper!
The problem with that idea is you will have to go to Elizabeth, NJ to get it out of the customs warehouse, not to mention potential paperwork problems....ARH
