Well at 11:59pm Monday night the state is going into mandatory quarantine for atleast 2 weeks and all nonessential businesses will be shut down. Local law enforcement will be stopping vehicles and pedestrians and if you don't have a good reason for being outside it's a 2nd degree misdemeanor. Talk about some bullshit.

I know it sounds like bullshit, but the virus is getting out of control. Today in the US there were over 9000 new cases and 419. If nothing drastic is done this will make h1n1 look like a joke.

Yes the virus is less deadly than others but this is the problem. If you get 9000, 10000 new infected per day that rush to the ICU, you will over crow those ICU.
Yes from those 10.000 most likely only 1 in 10 will die.
So the ICU are working 110% no more space to take more people in need.
Now let's say someone in street suffers a heart attack, sadly he won't be able to get the attention he needs and he could die.

No, 1 in 10 elderly will die. The fatality rate is very low unless you already have 2 or more pre-existing health conditions and/or if you're 70yrs old or above. Children are virtually unaffected by it, with cold like symptoms if any at all. No reason to shut the country down. Let it run it's course, we'll lose some people, mostly elderly, but then our immune system will be ready for it if it pops back up again.

I fully support suggested measures about staying home and social distancing, but mandatory measures enforced by law?

People will get covid-19, even with the quarantine, the idea behind it. Is to delay the cases as much as possible, so health personel can handle the infected.

Once the ICUs are over run other people who don't have corona but may need help from it won't be able to get it. You delay it, you can save more people and let the doctors handle the situation much.

It was already calculated if you let thing sort it by "nature" about 80% of the US Population will get infected in a very short period of time. Overcrowed ICUs, overcrowded cemeteries.
You will have the Armed Forces pickup coffins like they are doing right now in Italy, people not being able to say good bye to their loves ones.

https://www.businessinsider.com/coro...s-video-2020-3

US:
March 12: 1697 cases, 41 deaths
March 22: 33546 cases 419 deaths
What's gonna happen in let's say a month if no real action is taken?

It sucks and it may seems, they are stepping on civil rights, plus the economy will suffer even more those who have small business. But right now it is a must. I don't think someone live Trump will allow it if it wasn't necessary

Saw this vid and he seems to be doing well. The symptoms and severity off covid 19 is all over the place. Its not just the elderly ending up in ICU. There are young people there just doing their best to breath.

The worst part it seems is if you get to the point of getting pneumonia. Thats seems to be the deadliest part.

If you think that covid 19 is nothing then just go ahead and get it.

The real issue is not having or finding vacine ...
Isolation will slow it... even seem to stop it because of a lack
of people exsposed to it for it to infect....
but it is still there... and once the isolation is over it is bissness as normal
for it..

your best bet is to become a penguin and go live in Antarctica...

And of this coming Wednesday NZ is in total lock down...
Looks like I have a 4 week holiday.... almost everything closed...
everyone isolating at home...

Hey Pete. A young friend of mine is stuck in NZ, as we speak. Can't get a flight and I hear everything goes into lockdown on Wednesday? Any truth to that rumor?

If you are old like me, you can’t afford the time to read the whole thing anymore.

Folks the important thing is to keep your hopes up in these trying times and try to help neighbors and friends. And especially try to look out for the elderly, like Jerry Hawk, 2LZ, and Cheesy, their gonna need our help and support. Stay strong America!

The hopes are there, that's why it's vital we follow the rules as far as we can.
Is not because i'm afraid to get sick, if i get it, the chance of getting kill by it, is extremly low, but i don't want elder people dying or those who have a respiratory illness or diabets die, because they were not able to get the help they need because there are no more room to them.

In Italy right now they have to chose who to save and who to let die. Not only awful for those who are going to die, but also for the doctor who knows that he/she has to let them die.

I am sure they will not stop foreigners from leaving NZ to go home...
But flights with stop overs in different country's could be a real issue...
Some country's are even discouraging transit passenger's...
