I removed it. I plan on converting it to storage. I'm thinking about just picking up a sewer pipe test plug from Lowes to put in the hole. that will seal it off. Then all I would need to do is glue a piece of plastic to the cover to keep out water from entering the top.

Youbsaidbyou experienced an increase in low end power? I ride lots of trails and wouldn't want to lose any, but would like an increase in top end power for sure. i was thinking of putting one of these on my hawk, but id like to keep the air box. What did you do with the crank case breathing tube?

Did it come with all the jets you needed? I want to race this bike, so power is important lol. Right now I'm running the mikuni vm26, the one alot of people suggested. id like to get rid of the butterfly choke though for better fkow atleast.

This carb works perfect with ported and decked head. It came with 3 main jets (115,120 & 125) and 3 pilot jets (38,39, 40).

I've read that a longer intake tract and a smaller throttle hole will increase torque and a short intake and large throttle will increase top end.

Did you notice any lost bottom end?

Going from the stock pz30 to the pwk30 gave me more power across the board. Low end was much better.

are the jets different than mikuni? I found an article you might find interesting jerryhawk. It's some one race tuning a heist, which runs the cg250. They achieved 95 mph.

I just received my 30mm PWK Keihin carb a few days ago. It came with jets as Jerry noted somewhere earlier in this thread. They do appear to be different than the Mikuni main jets. I don't think they're interchangeable.

have you run the pwk yet? is your bike decked or ported? are you going to install a foam air filter?

Let me know what kind of performance increase you get, if any. How long did it take to ship.

I'm doing the night shift at my job this week :s

Yes the jets are different but the carb comes with extra jets for tuning. I've read the article before. I don't think I'll be going to those extremes. lol I was just going after good reliable performance mods.

Soooo.... you have that rotary tool ready to do a little porting too? Believe me it's worth the time and effort.

I definitely want to do porting in the head but probably won't get to it this year. Initially I want to drop the new carb in so I can get a good comparison to the Mikuni, whether or not the carb alone makes a difference. Tbh though, the fact that the fuel/air mix screw (among other adjustments) are easily accessible was the main reason I went with the Keihin PWK 30 carb.

I was looking to get this pumper carb before learning about these carbs

https://www.amazon.com/TC-Motor-Acce.../dp/B01FA7K598

Since I am new to all this its kind of confusing to me. So the power jet carb has a pilot and main jet like normal and on the bottom side also has another jet which is the power jet? So you can leave your main on the lean end on purpose and you swap out power jets to get your carb dialed in? Are the power jets the same kind of jet as your main?

Trying to get info from some people who have them or know more about them than me to see which would be best for my hawk. I would be doing a port and polish in the future along with new exhaust and filter but not decking the head. If I am understanding this correctly sounds like the power jet carb might be a better fit for what I am looking to do, and the mix screw is accessible without removing the carb so you can adjust with the bike running.

Sorry, I must of missed this one over the weekend. The power jet can be changed but seems to be properly sized at least for my Hawk. I haven't looked to see what is installed on mine. The power jet doesn't take effect until 3/4 to full throttle. The power jet works off of negative pressure which means the higher volume of air that passes through the carb the more fuel it will provide. The power jet carb is really designed for 2 stroke engines but will work on 4 stroke engines that have be ported and polished. You will mainly need to focus on the pilot and main jets. The PZ30 pumper carb may be easier for you to tune. Just be sure when you order one that it comes with the cable as you will have an extra cable the operated the pump.

You can also simply order a PWK30 without the power jet as well. It will work to more or less the same degree, though you may need a larger main jet to compensate. 4 strokes don't benefit from a power jet anywhere near as much as a 2 stroke, so you can go without it realistically.
