Thx,
What exactly do you want to compare?

The valve cover based cooler systems are really nice in regards to simplicity. The lines are up high and generally hidden up under the tank to the cooler and back. Since they cool the oil flow going to the head it is pressurized instead of suction based. If there was one real drawback to this style it would be that it makes doing valve checks more complicated since you have to disconnect the lines, or leave them long enough that the valve cover and be moved out of the way.

As far as effectiveness goes, it's hard to really argue against either as they are both cooling the oil flow. One could argue that the sump system is more efficient in regards to keeping the entire system cool since it is distributed evenly, but on an aircooled motor the cylinder head is the most crucial part to be cooled, and the valve cover based system doesn't get any more direct than that, which would also still keep the rest of the system's oil at a more stable temp.

Silly Question is there a way to replace the Screen with a Paper Filter?

The problem with paper filters on these engines is that there isnt sufficient oil pressure in an added cooler system to push through a paper filter to begin with, and as the paper collects debris it reduces flow and gets even worse. The screen collects particles without reducing flow whatsoever under most circumstances.

There is no oil preasure where the screen is located at all. The pump pulls oil from the cavity the screen resides in.

Negative pressure is pressure.

Sure, but in this instance it is actually a disadvantage. Plus, at the end of the day, these engines don't need a paper filter, so it is a moot argument. The screen and oil spinner are quite effective, and fhe cg engine is designed around the premise of being abused and surviving it.

Circling back to update: it looks like the buzzing i hear when the engine is cold is likely here to stay and normal from pulsing noises due to cold oil as mentioned earlier in this thread. Last week it was in the 70 degree temps here and i still got the buzzing when starting up the bike cold and it dissipates after 30 seconds or so.

It appears my previous comments were scrubbed, But I'm glad at least something I hypothesized regarding the buzzing and pump pulse with cold oil got through.

If I ever get around to fitting that 100micron pleated mesh filter i'll make a separate thread.
