Got my big tool boxes to the new place yesterday. Those things are heavy.

At last count, I own six boxes. Five at Cheesy Manor and one in Beaufort.

So, the garage is 95% empty. Because today will be ‘moist’, we’ll empty the shed and the rest of the garage. What’s left in the garage will fit in the bed of the Chevy. The rest of the week is supposed to be dry, so we’ll get the rest of the ‘staging’ furniture out. We’ll have help over the three day weekend. Then I can be done with this.

Whew, got the final trailer load out of Chez Fromage yesterday. The Chevy and that $150 trailer earned their keep. Now to find places for all this crap.

That’s a wrap.

Perhaps you should consider either retiring early, or working out of town more.

Well...yes.

3pm rolled around Saturday and I was absolutely dead. I made it to 4 on Sunday but that didn't include as many stairs. Looking forward to this weeks road trip.

Whew!
Since Saturday, I have replaced the double kitchen sink with a large single sink and new faucet. That was a job. The old sink was cast iron and I had to reconfigure from a double drain to a single. Replaced all four bathroom faucets and drains; three of those this morning before 9. Moved most of the woodworking tools from the big garage to the basement along with the rolling shelving unit the PO left in the garage. The PO also left a very old and very heavy woodworking bench with a wood vise in the basement. After dragging it across the basement to where the wood shop will be, I know why it was left in the basement. I bought a small Workmate style vise years ago but never had a place to mount it. It’s now mounted to the wood bench. I also bought a new Workmate over the weekend because the one I have is over forty years old and getting long in the tooth. Man, did Black & Decker cheapen the Workmate. I’m going to do some R&R on the old one and keep it in the garage. The new one can stay in the basement. Started on installing 40’ of wall shelving in the garage this afternoon. After hanging about a half dozen wall brackets, I said “Enough”.
On top of all this, I assembled and seasoned the new smoker Sunday. And, after all the plumbing work since Saturday, all the plumbing tools will be in the house garage from now on. That’s a lot of freakin’ walking.
Looking forward to that 10 hour drive tomorrow just to get some rest.

I got almost 45’ of shelving up in the garage over the weekend. I also managed to get the bulk of the air system installed. Right now, that consists of my old 30 gallon Craftsman compressor, that I decided to hold onto for a while longer, a 50’ hose reel at each end of the bench, and a manifold with a QD by the center bench vise. Next weekend will see the addition of a couple dryers in the system along with a separate set of manifolds with QDs, drains, and ball valves along the wall with the welders.

The above was not without drama, though. While setting down my 1/4 impact driver to grab a few more screws, the little wiener jumped off the shelf and tried to impale its square drive bit in my upper lip, Ninja style. Man, did that hurt. After a half hour with an ice pack and some gauze, I was back at it.

I think more time was lost just having to hunt down the tool, screws, board, fittings, or pencil I just had in my hand.

Finished up with the air system in the big garage this morning. Leak free and perfecto. Spent yesterday unpacking boxes and finding places to put everything. I have one more box o’ crap to go through. It was from my old office and most of it will probably get trashed.
Once everything is unpacked, I can get the rest of the garage set up. Right now, the wheel truing stands and bike repair stand are at one end of the garage while the bulk of the bicycle tools are in a drawer at the other end. Bikes are strewn all over, too.

I did start to hang shelves in the other garage today but ran out of brackets. Knew that would happen because I could only get a dozen. We’ll have some more space once we do our Goodwill and ReStore runs tomorrow.

That's one thing I've yet to do, run air. I want at least one drop per wall and one or two from the ceiling.

Whew! All the shelving is done. I hung two bikes that may get ridden more than the others from the ceiling between the two garage doors. I figured that’s where they’d be less likely to be walked into. Bull.
Hung a heavy duty hook in the attic for the block and tackle that should be here tomorrow. Then there will only be two bikes on the floor at any one time. Rest are in the attic or on the ceiling.
Got our new fridge in on Friday. So nice to have a water and ice dispenser again.

Last night, though, was the breaking in of the new fire pit. My butt, in a chair, with a glass of brandy over ice, watching fireflies and bats as the sun set.

Finally got the garage how I want it. Divvied up what tools went to the basement, to the house garage, and stayed put. Got the bikes in the attic with the block and tackle. Still had to wrestle them but at least I didn’t have to push them up the ladder. And, of course, I chose the hottest day of the year to do that.

See those cross beams? They left a mark. There’s a long string of four letter words trying to find their way out of the attic.

Now to tackle the DeSotos’ electrical problems.

Finally, finally, finally, got all the cardboard boxes that new crap came in cut up and in the recycling. Mrs. C can now park her Little Goat inside the garage.

Moving boxes are still in the basement but the grandsons are building forts and hideouts with those, so those will stay for a while longer.
