I'm thinking chain drive to a non-live axle, but this is contaminating OG's thread.

One of the local newspapers had two 20 page moto inserts this week, the exciting news is that Honda is importing the CBR 250R, it will be here in May, they have not announced the price yet. There was also an article on the new XTREET and said it was now at the dealers, I've been wanting to see his new high-tech "trellis framed" wonder so jumped on the Mavila yesterday and headed down to the UM dealer. Well, it was not high-tech, just a standard Chinese moto with a fake trellis frame, a plastic trim piece to be exact, I should have known better it was April 1 after all. The 180 is selling for US $2683, the 230 sells for $3068, that is more money than a Bajaj Pulsar 180, http://www.pulsar.com.pe/ The Pulsar 180 sells for $2550 out the door with three free services, it's a great moto and stiff competition to the China motos.

UM XTREET 180

April Fools Day

My Mavila, those of course are the bags that Mark brought over from the UK

The Honda CBR250R is a very nice motorcycle. The UM bike looks nice, minus the fake, plastic trellis. How big is the engine in the UM bike?

Those bags are terrific! I didn't realize that Mark left them with you.

The plastic trellis is hilarious!

Spud, 180 & 230cc
Weld, I bought the bags from Mark when his trip was over, he shipped them back to Lima with his moto, I picked them up at the dealership. I like them a lot, great for grocery shopping (I don't own a car).

I never heard of a 180cc, four stroke, motorcycle engine. :? I would definitely want the 230cc engine.

Had to post these photos from the Mavila site, the new XM-230 & XM-230E. Wow!

That Supermoto is really sharp! Son of Weldangrind wants to turn our KLR250 into a Supermoto, so I'm getting ideas from bikes like that Mavila.

I dropped my Mavila off for service today, went into the showroom and checked out the new motos. The XM 230 (supermoto) is $2259. the XM 230E is $2146,
included in the price is three services, two year, 20,000 km warranty, license plate and a helmet. They are built by Loncin, actually a 223cc OHC engine, inverted forks and quality components, it's the highest quality Chinese moto that I've ever seen. I'm surprised that they can sell such a quality moto here in Peru at these prices.

Very nice bikes. I can see why they are so popular over there. Looks like a good deal also. 8)

Weld, I'm all over the supermoto also, that silver cylinder on both motos is a shock reservoir. The sales manager was trying to explain the new features to me but it got technical, the Spanish was over my head, but think he was telling me that the rear suspension is adjustable. I'll be back there tomorrow to pick up my moto and will take a better look at the rear suspension.

Those are very nice motorcycles, at very good prices. Please do try to learn more about the suspension on those bikes, OG.

Thanks for sharing, oldgingo! I think that Loncin has that engine nailed down very well--they have been showing up in several different bikes the past few years now.

I do think you have a great point on the Bajaj. India seems to be more on the enthusiast side vs. industrial manufacturers who happen to manufacture motorcycles. The guys on mychinamoto who are ex-pats living and working in China post this inside info all the time. 'Crazy Carl' who started mychinamoto when he was living and working there had visited a few factories and generally found this to be true. However, it is nice to see 'your' bike's importer, Mavila, bringing in some exciting models at good prices.

I think I found the manufacturer of the UM bike...
