Yeah, thought about that. It does tend to wander a bit. My bad.

So cheesy, has the old firm contacted you with offers of wheelbarrows full of cash yet?

Not offers of cash yet.

I did have a nice chat with the CS manager yesterday. She called to tell me how pissed she was that there wasn't even a cake for me on my last day. After all those years working for Al, I'd come to expect nothing.

Ex boss called about three times last week asking about how to check something and said they really need my help but hasn't come up with any money yet.

Heard from one of my replacements that some customers are pissed that I've retired because I could always point them in the right direction to deal with a problem. New guys haven't gotten there yet.

OTOH, I haven't taken a single Advil since I retired, had maybe two beers because I was thirsty and not pissed off, walk about 4 miles a day, knocked out a bunch of honey-do stuff, lost a few pounds, got some cycling in, and thoroughly enjoying it.
Planning on taking the Ural on the Trans Wisconsin Adventure Trail in late September or early October. Trying to talk Mrs.C into going to the UK, Scandinavia, or Germany for a week or two, though that's waiting until the airlines get their heads out of their collective asses. I got the issues with the camper dealt with, so some fall camping coming up.

I should have done this at 62.

I hosted an MTM reunion yesterday. Most of these folks I hadn’t seen in five years and a good time was had. I got some gossip about what’s happening at GNA from Harold and it ain’t good. How the hell do you burn up two PTO drives in one day?

I guess the new VP is on a tear with Engineering. Some of those fcukwits have decided that that little shit isn’t going to tell them what to do… Guys, he has several Engineering degrees and also has work boots. You might actually have to do your jobs.

Harold talked to Mrs. C about how much GNA and the customers are missing me. He wants to have breakfast on Tuesday to float me an offer about coming back on board as a consultant only. Mrs. C already told him it’s not about the money, it’s the culture at the company that I’m fed up with.

What makes her think being a "consultant" would make them listen (and do) any better? Make them pay dearly ($$$) and maybe-just maybe-they'll do something right. It's always the bottom line.....

unless they hire you as a consultant to re-vamp the company to run better, don't do it. consultants make great $ but have zero say in the business.

So really what they need to do is hire cheesy as a hit man, to fire all the fcukwits. And maybe advise on the new hires, since whoever hired the current crowd did not do well.

The hilarious part would be to hire cheesy as a consultant, do what he says, and improve the company immensely. IE the same thing he was telling them as a regular employee. But he had no cred until they paid him a boatload of money.....

Well, the offer came through a couple weeks ago. I hemmed and hawed, countered, accepted, France changed something after the acceptance, I gave France the middle finger and told them to Eff themselves(Alex went into Bitch Mode over that. I told her that she doesn't scare me because I raised my daughters. Stopped her dead in her tracks. Her Boy Toy and I got into it, though.[fcukwit])

Beaufort told France to Eff themselves, too, and the original offer was restored.

So, very part time. 90% of the job will be done from the big comfy chair in the living room. The other 10% will be in the field training the new guys and customers. No wrenching and no climbing all over equipment.

And the money is really good, too.

Oh, I don't know about that. I was supposed to start tomorrow but had half a dozen people begging me to start last Friday.

A customer lost their remote control for a fancy schmancy piece of equipment and no one, and I mean no one, had there wherewithal in Beaufort to go check the new machine on the shop floor to what the model number of it's remote was. Not our part number, the manufacturers part number. If our part number is used, it takes six to ten weeks to get the remote from Europe. If the manufacturers part number is used, we get it out of Virginia in a week. Jebus!

Customer did find his remote and now wants a back up. Something we suggested a year ago.
