Well I went out this morning and took a little 50 mile trip. I wanted to check speedometer accuracy. The speedo is a little optimistic. Roughly 8% off. Max speed today was 81 mph indicated and 76 mph GPS. I'd say that's pretty good speed wise for an engine that's not broke in yet. It got there pretty quick. I only had it full throttle briefly and probably would of picked a few more mph if I would of held it. I still can't believe how smooth the engine is and how easy it will get up to speed.

Well, looks like the unicorn Chinese dual-sport! How many times have people started threads here in this section, or the introduction section, asking about a Chinese dual-sport that can sustain 65 MPH for x miles commute to work? I know enough that if I received $1 for every time someone asked, I would be a member of a Suzuki or Honda forum !

Too bad these bikes were not CARB certified because these would make nice commuter bikes considering the gasoline prices there, at least for those, like me, that prefer dual-sports to pretty much any other kind of bike. At least they can get a SSR XF250 which is already proven as a great dual-sport.

I got my oil cooler and grip puppies in yesterday. Now I need to find time to make a small video on the install. This is going to be an easy install.

I finally verified what sprockets come on the bike. 13 tooth front and 42 tooth rear. No wonder it runs s well on the street with the 6th gear. Not that it needs it. It doesn't look like enough room to go with a 14 tooth on the front. The chain would pass too close to the case. I may try a 39 tooth on the rear just to experiment. You know i can't leave anything alone. Only Con I see about the KPX is that it really doesn't need any mods. How boring is that.

Jerry,
How did you pay for that bike if you don't mind my asking? Purposely, I don't have a credit card with a limit that high (high credit limits got my arse in trouble when I was a young yute) and I don't really want to pay for it with my debit card. I would like to have SOME kind of protection, ya know? I know you say they are a good company but I like to cover my own arse.

The last China Bikes I bought I drove to the dealer and picked them up the same day with cash in hand. Sending 3200 bucks into cyberspace is making my agent orange act up

Paid with Debit Card. I had to raise max limit on debit to allow for purchase then set back to a safe level after. Venom is not a Manny company if that's what you are worried about. They are legit and been around for a while. If you contact them direct I'm sure they alternate ways to pay and protect you.

Like I said above...a unicorn bike. I would be curious what kind of gearing this bike could take, but discussing 428 chains for so long, I find the 520 chains and their gearing a bit of a mystery.

The mods I could see, besides a rear sprocket, might be tires. How aggressive of an offroad tire would make this a decent off-roader, for instance. And what kind of trails would be about the maximum the bike could be used on with said tires?

I could envision a budget adventure bike; say US border to the southern portion of Argentina is usually the endpoint for adventure riders on the Horizons Unlimited forum; Ushuaia in Argentina. Or north to Deadhorse in Prudhoe Bay in Alaska.

I'll probably use this more off road so thinking about taking the new Kenda k760 trakmaster's I just put on the Hawk and installing them on the KPX.
Gear Commander helps in figuring out gear ratios. https://www.gearingcommander.com/

I think this bike would be perfect to convert to an adventure bike. Throw some hard bags on the side and a tail box. You be good to go.

How do you do a hard bag on the exhaust side, with a high exhaust?

The exhaust is tucked in tight. It will be fabricating mounting brackets that will be a challenge but anyone with any fabrication skills could figure it out. I don't plan on installing any hard bags myself. Maybe a tail box like i did on my Hawk at the most.

Got the oil cooler installed. About a 25-30 minute job. Way too easy. Lol

Ha, Hah, that was too easy! Nice install. I assume that has the Lithium battery? If so the team built a negative ground disconnect for the X Pect so when it sits for more than a few days I just disconnect the battery to save it from being run down from parasitic drain.

It has a standard sealed lead acid battery.

Can't have everything for the money and to get this package at that price they had to cut somewhere. Great bike!
