He’s home and looking at two weeks with the cone of shame. He’s been too doped up to show any interest in much of anything but napping. The cone was causing him some distress last night, so we took it off. Mrs.C made a fabric COS for him last night but so far, he hasn’t needed it.

Well, except for the more than normal amount of naps, Buster is no worse for wear.
He's not a fan of the new Cone of Shame, looks like an embarrassed Black Eye Susan flower.

He hasn't been at his stitches so we've been letting him not have to suffer with the cone. For now. Having been through major surgery more than once myself, I know the itchy time is coming, so we ordered a Recovery Suit for him. Kind of a doggie onesie that that has a velcro strap that goes across his butt so he can't get at his wound.

If he thought the Black Eyed Susan cone was embarrassing, he ain't seen nothing yet.

We have the grandpuppy, aka, The Demon of Darkness, with us for the week. She's kind of a character. She was barking and growling like we were being broken into yesterday morning. But nope, she was giving my crutches hell because how dare they lean against a wall and mock her while on guard duty.
She'll snooze all day on a couch, but the moment I get out of my EZ chair, she's in it when I get back.
Yet, she's just not sure about me. She'd sleep on my lap when she was a puppy. Now, I go to scratch her head and she bolts just out of reach, then turns and barks at me. Unless, I have a cookie or cracker, then I am worthy.

Ain't that the truth. We had dogs, cats, a couple of raccoons, and the occasional rodent in the house I grew up in. It took me leaving home to figure out that I was allergic to cats in their plural form. Also, onions.

At one time, we had three small dogs whose total weight didn't equal one Buster. The smallest one would lay across your shoulders like a dog stole. We learned quickly that it was so she could sneak a bite of whatever you were eating. The other two would sit in my lap as two farting hot water bottles if I was a bit under the weather. It could be awful at times.

We didn't realize how much we missed having a dog in the house until we got Buster.
