The X is a 6 speed, also has adjustable rear suspension. I think the wheelbases might be just a bit different. Other than that, not much difference. I just got the M last week but it was missing a few parts, so still waiting on them to put it together.

I’m pretty sure they are identical with the exception of 6 Speed transmission, adjustable shocks, and counter balanced engine in the X. The X doesn’t have kick start only electric. But engine displacement, size, and weight are about the same.

I have noticed that the 6 speed shift throw is shorter. This makes sense because the rotating device that positions the gear guides has one additional gear position, and they are equidistant (360 degrees divided by one additional gear position).

The folding short shifter lever makes it even shorter! Neither of them are sticky. My 5 speed is more broken in, and it's excellent. The 6 speed feels a bit tighter, but doesn't have many miles on the engine yet.

I also changed the rear sprocket on the 6 speed to a 39T instead of 49T. That is very noticable. No, I haven't gotten it to top speed, but it gets up to 70+ mph easily now.

Looking at the specs on the powermax website, the M is a longer bike by about 6 inches (wheelbase) and about 1inch taller seat height.

M

Wheelbase 57.9inches
Seat height 36.2 inches

X
Overall length 81inchs
wheelbase 52inches
seat height 35.4inches
