Looks like an X-ADV. Is it supposed to sell in the US?

No idea what markets will get it...
Honda now has a X-ADV 150 on sale in Asia with a 300 on the way...
Yamaha have there X-ride 155 ADV scooter on sale in Asia...
The ADV style scooter is not what sells in Asia....
The Honda X-ADV 150 is 99,000 bahts in Thailand... the common scooters
are below 50,000 bahts... Joe average Thai can not afford much over 50,000 bahts..
Scooters in Asia are not toys... they are there only means of transport and means
to make a living....Only us dumb ass westerner that buy them as toys..
So they must be looking at other markets aswell for all these new ADV scooters...

Yeah, the X-ADV is super popular in southern France, I don't get it.

I saw this on a press release on Lifan's home site months ago and posted photos a while ago on the scooter site 49ccscoot http://49ccscoot.proboards.com/threa...enture-scooter

I forgot there was a press release involved, with little discussed about the scooter, but it did offer some information: "LIFAN plans tolaunch at least three allnew products in this coming year, namely the ADV scooterLF150T-8,the street modelKP350 and the adventure KPT500.
Defined asADV scooter, the LF150T-8 adopts a electric-start 150cc water-cooled engine, with max power of 8.6Kw@8500rpm and11.0N.m@5500rpm, an affordable and powerful choice. Being 1940mm × 750mm × 1110mm(L×W×H) in dimensions with sharp appearance and body line, it is well-suited forriding in both urbanand country areas."

Here is the press release link: http://www.lifanmotos.net/News/infor...-01-29/80.html

I am not that fond of an adv scooter, for reasons of...well, just because. That being said, I do appreciate rugged scooters that come with wide tires for reasons of...well, just because. For instance, I like Lifan's BWS http://www.lifanmotos.net/product/tb...-09-19/94.html or TGB's Key West http://www.tgbscooters.us/key-west-50.html Again, no real reason to not like an adv scooter, but do like scooters with wide trail-like tires.

8.6kw.... that is almost 30% less than the Jap 150cc scooters..
Jap 150cc are in the 14/15hp range...

8.6kw X 1.341 = 11.5hp...

I commuted to work for two years on my scoot, so it was a bit more than a toy. Alas, i work at a different place now and the speed limit along the way is too high for my 125cc beast.

I rode the 151cc TGB for nearly two years, or maybe over two years (it's all a blur, lol); 33 miles a day, year-round. Plus, the last four months of 2017, I would come home from work and courier the bike as a contractor for a local app delivery company. Rode all over Yuma 7 days a week, probably putting on a 150 or more miles a week EXTRA on top of the 165 commuting miles. The TGB is now at a bit over 20k miles. The battery is long gone, and I was kick starting it, but it has not been started in a while. I want to have it overhauled and get it rideable once again; heck it is currently registered and insured, and I still have my motorcycle endorsement since I was able to transfer it to California from AZ (although I have not changed my license back to AZ since moving back here).

I don't like the look of this Lifan, and would not consider one. However, if Lifan threw in this ADV scooter's 150cc liquid-cooled, FI engine into their BWS bike they show on their Chinese home site, I would consider one.

If I am very lucky and can find a Lifan dealer in Thailand that has one...
I would see if I could take it for a test ride.... They see westeners as walking ATMs...

I am flying back on the 29th march next year for 3 months... longest I can stay
on my tourist visa... I have to go to Bangkok to the NZ Embassy to get a stamp on a form
to set up a Thai bank account.... Hopefully there is a Lifan dealer in Bangkok somewhere...

I am thinking of buying a used Yamaha Mio125 scooter in Khon Kaen… better than hiring one
for 3 months.. and then I don't need all the forms from the hire company to take it out of Thailand..

The 125 Mio I hired last time...
