Tao Tao Starting Issues

Hi - new to this site, but I have reached the end of my wits.
Have a Tao Tao ATA 125 for my kids, and it would not start.

1. New Battery installed- full charge, per multi meter
2. Tested Solenoid- good, see below.
3. Multi Meter shows power from battery to Sol and from other post to starter motor. No resistance in between sol posts- all good.
4 The starter was removed and jumped tested off the machine- works.
5. Back on the machine, the starter will just not activate. Just hear solenoid clicking.

Here's what I think. I found that the ground wire to the starter is badly crimped at the starter terminal (the copper connector).

Could this be a grounding issue? It's the only thing left I can think of...any help appreciated!!

Certainly could be. I'm just about convinced after decades of fussing with non-starting machines that "bad ground" is the cause of many, many, many weird problems...

Not sure if it's the same, but on my TBR7, I had a problem with the clutch switch. Pretty flimsy and taught me to only start with gear in Neutral.

Not familiar with AT 125, does it have this type of cutout?

It's the ground

I bet it's your ground-a bad ground causes a drop in amps meaning that you won't have the need power to spin the starter. Replace the lug on your ground and make cure its a good connection.
I hope this works and good luck.

Take a screwdriver and "jump" the two big poles on the solenoid, if the starter turns over then there's a real good chance that the solenoid is bad.

I never use the handlebar on and off switch and tell anybody that rides it to just use the key to turn it on and off,I hear so many problems associated with the kill switch and that's why I don't ever touch it.
