I am going to move this into the registration issue forum.

One problem that might come up also the the fact this your MCO says "DIRT BIKE" for type of vehicle.

Is anything filled out on the back of the MCO?

The fact that it said Dirt Bike didnt help thats for sure, they actually brought that up. Also that it didnt have the engine size in cc's written anywhere.

And to answer your question Allen, yes the back has spaces for the dealer/seller to reassign ownership, but they are all blank.

I just got off the phone with a guy that owns the local motorcycle salvage yard and asked him if there was anyway to title a bike without the MCO (he's usually really good at "creative" titling). All he had to say was, "no".

I really like this bike and have ideas for lots of upgrades (I got all of those ideas here). It would really suck to have to get rid of it over this, but it looks as if I'm S.O.L. :(

Not sure if anyone is currently parting out a bike, but you could buy a titled frame. Also check the bonded title route.

The reason I asked about the back of the MCO was to see if it listed who initially sold the bike.

Did the person you bought it from buy it new? Maybe you can track the original seller that way.

Just got off the phone with American Lifan again and this time the person I talked to asked for the entire VIN (not just the first six like last time) and he said that the VIN I have has never been used by them. So I've got the "gray market" blues right about now.

The one bit of advice he had was to get it titled in Alabama. "They'll title anything" he said.

I'm still curious about the bonded title option, but don't know which is the best way to do that. Anybody have any experience with that?

If ANYONE has ever titled a "gray market" Lifan please let me know how you did it. No matter how "creative" it was.

Oh, chinaguy, I almost forgot to post the pics for you.

Its in beatiful shape. The plastic still smells a little new in spots and its only got 455km on it. And I got a deal on it. Guess I know why now.

And cheers Allen for moving me to the proper forum.

Thanks,
Eric

I am not sure about Alabama being an easy title state, but Arizona I heard is. Vermont too.

Sounds like Vermont is the place, but I'm still unsure of how I would go about doing this through the mail from Florida without being a Vermont resident.

Thanks,
Eric :?:

Here may be some help to the Vermont process.

If you go this route and it works make sure you document the process for others here.
