KPM200 - Oil filter options

If any moderator wants to import this info into the KPM200 resource thread, feel free.

So I did an experiment. First off, I AM a fan of the K&N brand, but I also realize they are not a monopoly and there could be cheaper alternatives in this world. Filter next to the K&N box is the K&N, filter next to just an O-Ring is the cheaper alternative. While the cheaper alternative filters do come with O-rings, they are too big for this engine (too thick). Simply reuse your original O-ring. Filter rubber bushing fitment onto the filter cover was exactly the same on all 3 filters. Pictures should speak for themselves.

These are the Chinese ones on Amazon. I, personally, didn't want to try it out. But, if they're the unbranded ones they come out the company they builds them for k&n, then I wouldn't see a problem with them. I just went the chances of the filter crumbling in the engine as low as possible.

They are not unbranded K&Ns. I did a review of several brands of these filters, and the spot welding for the pressure valve assembly is different on the Chinese one than the K&N. However I also have those same ones, the 10-pack, so eventually one will go on my KPX. I suspect they will be fine.
