Top 5 Mods.

I had a random thought riding home tonight that I felt like sharing, and then posing a question to the rest of you.

If you had to pick only 5 mods to do to your Enduro, be it a Hawk, Brozz, etc. what would they be and why?

I think this will prove interesting, especially for us Hawk guys since we tend to be the most mod heavy of the bunch.

So for ground rules, I will allow related upgrades to be considered one, I.E. Chain AND sprocket changes will be considered one mod since it is all part of the same concept (I.E. regearing). I will exclude things like replacing the battery (the stock ones usually suck), fluid changes, or other maintenance related things like greasing bearings.

So my 5 mods I must have list in no particular order.

1. Re-gear. Yep, right off the bat, the previously mentioned chain and sprocket upgrade. For the Hawk in particular I forsee this as a popular one.

2. Better rear shock. The original Hawk one does OK, but its dual spring rate makes it sit too low so it bottoms out easily. This takes precedence over the fork valves, which while nice, I could also live without and be happy.

3. Exhaust. I would stick with the ebay system, but no matter how you slice it, the stock system suuuuuuuuuuuucks.

4. Ported head. Self explanatory really. On it's own it made a nice difference, but paired with the previous and next mod, game changer.

5. PE30 Carb with necessary intake to make it work. Because the difference is staggering, especially with a ported head.

There are many other mods I would love to include for many reasons, but like I said, if I was limited to only 5 mods, and that was all I could do, these would be it. I would even forgo the tach cluster upgrade, as much as I like having a tachometer, and if I had to I would use my phone as a speedo lol.

I completely agree with all those mods with exception of #2. My only experience is with the TBR which has the adjustable shock. Maybe adding the extra 1" spacers to the front forks is among the top 5, it sucks having suspension which bottoms out just from hard breaking.

I think a better #2 mod would be shaving the hump off the seat so you aren't forced to sit uncomfortably against the tank.

I don't consider proper suspension preload settings a mod. That is just a part of bike setup, which is why I didn't include it.

Well those five you mention are pretty much the must have and top 5, maybe # 2 it will depend on the mfg, some shocks are OK.

My 5 would be close to the same except #2. Speedometer in place of the Shock. Being that i'm much light than you Dan the stock shock, Though not the greatest works fine with my weight. I would like to change it but that would be #6. lol

Which intake is required for the PE30 carb?

my top 5 are as follows (considering my shinray/roketa db07a, not a more current hawk/tt250 etc.)

1. dr650 tank swap to gain more than the stock 1.1gal fuel supply

2. DR650 seat swap, so it matches up with the tank, but also solves a serious comfort issue, so it gets its own spot

3. Ninja 250 supermoto conversion ( i am a sucker for a supermoto, and i can keep up in anything short of mud with someone with knobbies also entailed gearing change and a swap to #520 chain, gearing is 13/38, 2.92 final drive, tops out about 65 flat ground would like to go bigger but bigger than 13 in front wont fit, and no one make smaller than a 38 for a ninja wheel)

4. exhaust mods (aftermarket can and cat delete in my case)

5. some form of tail tidy, as i have broken about 4 rear fender assemblies off road because of the poor design that hangs everything 8" past the last mounting bolt... (working on fixing that currently)

note these are all the mods i have done on my bike...LOL

Brozz swingarm

I would do the Brozz swingarm for my TT250...if I can find out that the rear brake caliper mount will work. No one seems to get back to me on this. I PM'd you (Megadan) and Jeff at Peace, but no replies yet.

Not expensive, but I'd rather not have another $75-100 worth of stuff in a box if it doesn't work.

The Hawk and TT250 use the same rear brake caliper. Megadan did install it on his hawk using stock brakes so there shouldn't be no problem with it working on the TT250. Megadan had also installed the TT250 swing arm on his last Hawk which will confirm they are interchangeable.

Ha! I ordered a 2020 TT250 last week and I ordered a Brozz swingarm kit from peacesports. Looks like I'll have hard data for you soon.

i can only speak about the tbr7 but as the hawk and tbr are so close probably would be the same...

rejet and exhaust...the exhaust is a little bit of a pain but is sooo much better.
new plug ---i am surprised no one said this and its soooo easy to do, iridium of course
aux lights - on the tbr the headlight is not sufficient for night trails or the road for that matter
remove those crappy stickers -yes its vanity but you take pride and better care of something that is aesthetically pleasing, we all know its true
sprockets and o ring chain plus swap the rear sprocket bolts too.... better more usable gearing, a little smoother to

hey thats how i see it...
i would like to port my head though. good thread megadan.

spark plugs are maintenance items, and thus I don't consider them a mod. Just like changing the fluid in the forks.
