Yeah, the heat could be a problem but, I've had 3 different carburetors on it so no float issues here. I did notice today. That there was what appeared possibly gas around the engine head or something. Maybe a head gasket leak? Deficiently would explain the serging. Right? I have no idea how they attached it on or torque settings when I get there. I'm a 2 stroke person I know very little about these four strokers. They're much more simple.

I know this is a old thread but I had the same problem with the eratic idle and it had nothing to do with the carburetor. It was due to a tear in the rubber intake manifold that would "act up" randomly. I made a video about the issue and it can be seen here. Hope this helps others out. I have a lot of mechanic experience and recognized the problem as a vacuum leak pretty quick but it could be a nightmare for someone who doesnt know how to troubleshoot it. The intakes can be purchased on Amazon for under 10 dollars.

Welcome and thanks for the video! Years ago, when we thought we had a vac leak on a truck, I was taught to spray start fluid, and see if the idle picked up. From your video, it brought back some old carb memories we had to fight. Yes nice gas cap! Big improvement!
