Is There an Aftermarket Engine for CSC TT250?

So I killed the engine on my TT250. I was thinking about selling it (currently have it listed on Craigslist), but I just love it too much. I don't want to spend a ton of money fixing it though. Someone on Craigslist sent me a message saying this engine would fit the bike.

https://www.walmart.com/ip/TFCFL-200...ion/1935265966

The mounts on the front of the engine look different though. So I thought I'd ask the pros over here. Is there an aftermarket engine under $500 that fits the CSC TT250?

Basically, my back is shot and I don't feel like doing a rebuild, but a quick engine swap, might not be so bad. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance. This site has saved me on so many occasions!

Out of curiosity how did you kill the engine? These are supposed to be near bulletproof in Chinese terms

Not sure. Started it up in the middle of winter, took it for a ride up and down the street and suddenly it started sounding like really bad valve clatter. Sounds like something broke or cracked inside. I put it away until spring, started it up, same sound, thought maybe exhaust leak, then just lost all power. Put in gear stalls. Then it just stopped starting. Got about 6000 miles out of the engine and I wasn't gentle with it. Checked valve lash every couple thousand miles. Not my first rodeo. Something definitely seems wrong. I love the gas mileage though, and it really is a fun bike! If I can figure out a cheap fix, I'd love to keep it around a little longer.

Just for the hell of it, try contacting CSC and tell them your experience, you never know, they may try to help you get it sorted out and/or help with replacement part costs

I talked to them, they're always helpful. No help on this issue though. Suggested an engine rebuild, or replacement. I was hoping I could find a cheap replacement motor. If I have to spend $1000 on an engine, I'd rather just get a new Brozz or something similar.

The CSC engine has a counter balancer, that is why it looks different for the front mount.

So would it work as an engine replacement or does the counter balancer throw off the dimensions?

The Brozz 250 motor may be a direct bolt in. It’s also made by Zongshen, is counterbalanced, and a CG250. It’s also less than $500 to your door.

if you can fabricate new front brackets the wallmart CG250 engine should fit fine..

As mentioned the CSC enginer is counterbalanced which is that front case protrusion...

the other engine mounts should be the same...

If you go with the CG250 just be aware of the gear pattern...Some engines are listed as ATV engines with a reverse gear....

I will confirm all of the above. You would need to fabricate new front bracket plates to use a.non-counter balanced engine as the mount hole locations and shape of the front of the case is different. It would be very easy to do if you have some basic fab skills and tools.

@BitcoinDood Did you decide on an engine? I'm considering the TT250, just wondering what mpg you are getting while highway riding? Is that with the stock jet or an improved jet? I'm also interested in a new engine or big-bore if that can add a few more HP to cruise at 65mph more easily - I understand the bike isn't made for 75mph cruising. The engine is also a HOV (vs OHC), so that may make a new top-end easier.

Welcome to China Riders!!!
I LOVE my TT250's. I get 63 MPG out of them. Max sustained speeds are 60-65 MPH. I'm 6' 1" tall and weigh 230+ pounds with full ATGATT. My body is a sail in a tropical storm at those speeds, which probably slows me down a bit.

I swapped the stock jets with a 112 and they all purr. They are torque monsters. I'm glad I bought them. At the time (October 2020) they were the best China Bike on the market. I'm a huge cheerleader for CSC Motorcycles.

That being said, I bought them before the KPX250 came out. If I were in the market for dual sports right now, I'd buy the KPX250 hands down. Fuel injected 6 speed with plenty of low-end grunt. LOTS of other members here got them and are absolutely thrilled with their choice. Please read through this thread (it's a Sticky) and every other thread on the KPX250.
