Thanks Spud for creating the new forum. That must take a lot of time? Did you have to run a drill in the handlebar ends before tapping them 1/2-13 or did you just run a tap in? Thanks, my Rx3 is suppose to be here today or Monday. rj

Quadz is the owner of these forums, and he created the new RX3 forum. All thanks should be directed to Quadz.

No, I did not need to drill the handlebar. I merely ran the tap for the 1/2"-13 thread into the existing holes.

I like it.

I used a similar, Husky brand jack, which I bought from Home Depot, to lift the RX3 when I changed the fork oil. If you remove the circular lifting pad from that jack, it reveals a hollow tube underneath.

After positioning my RX3 on a swingarm stand to lift the rear wheel and level the motorcycle, I removed the skid plate. The front bolt for the skid plate is screwed into a bracket. I placed the hollow tube of my Husky jack around that bracket, and used it as a solid support to jack up the front wheel. This is the same method I used to install the front wheel when I assembled the motorcycle out of the shipping crate.

Have you noticed the two contact rings around the front disc...
is it not true / flat ?

That's a cool jack. I considered making an adapter for my car jack, so I can lift my bikes in a similar fashion.

Thanks for noticing, and making me aware of this.

The brake rotor is definitely true. The front brake performs smoothly, and very well. I believe the camera is magnifying two faint rings which are disappearing as the brake pads wear in. However, I will definitely keep inspecting this rotor.

Here are a few photographs of the new tires I mounted on my Zongshen RX3.

I installed a Shinko 244 tire on the rear wheel; it was size 5.10-17. I mounted a Kenda K270 tire on the front wheel; it was size 3.50-18. Both tires are working well for me.

I bought both tires from Rocky Mountain ATV/MC.

Great photos as always spud , I can imagine the more aggressive tyres are a lot better for off road riding. Do they handle ok on the street ?

-----------------------------------------------------------

I recently checked my wheel spokes and noticed a few on the front wheel were sounding a bit loose.
I went through the spokes checking every forth spoke in rotation, tightening the loose ones to what felt like the same torque as the tighter ones.
The spokes that were loose now have a low to medium pitched ping compared with the tighter ones.

Do you think that this is good enough or should they all have a similar pitch.

I don't want to end up with an egg for a wheel so reluctant to tighten any further without advice

My Latest Bodge

I wanted to tackle the inaccurate speedo problem but am too tight to pay for a speedo healer.

So I fitted a bicycle speedo for £11.50 ($17.40)

To my amazement it works and is accurate ( tested against GPS)

this one is waterproof and auto switches on when moving and off when stopped

Bicycle speedos are great, I have them on all my bikes. Avoid this model though because it goes crazy at anything over 71 mph.

I may have killed my battery

I put a pigtail on the battery, like I do with all my bikes. It's been on a BatteryMinder charger/conditioner for a few days. I finished up changing the oil and tried to start the bike. It wouldn't even run the fuel pump. I removed the battery, and it was bubbling out from the left side. It was accepting a charge, but the bubbling is disconcerting. I ordered a WPS battery for the bike. I have one on the Grom, and it works a treat!

490-2517 is the replacement for the OEM battery.
