You could probably use an axle from an old Chevette or whatever they called it in Canada. Pretty narrow as is.

I am not sure if its possible, but golf cart axles are made by dana. It might be that the gearing could be changed to a higher ratio. Most of the them are pretty low. Like 12:1 ratio.

My project would be fine with a low ratio. I would be staying the in the yard with it.

Theres a mini sprint race car class that used to use 11-1200cc motorcycle engines. They used to use older small car rear axles that were narrowed. Then there is the lawn tractor axles too. Some of the bigger ones would work just fine.

wish those 3 wheeled trucks could pass inspection here they would work fine for a lot of in town uses. A fellow in the northeast built one using honda 150 elete scooter parts, complete with body and got it licensed. Think it was new hampshire. he called it "moonbeam" and is probably still searchable on the net. it was 2 in front and one wheel drive/

3 wheeled in the us get registered as motorcycles and have to follow state helmet laws. probably have to use the kit/custom/homemade registration.

Am I the only one that wants to use it purely for a motorcycle like on the BMW's and other bikes? The benefits of shaft-drive bikes are numerous. . .

In Canada, it was called the Chevette.

Good idea. I hadn't considered that.

I thought about that, but decided that it would be much easier to just find a narrow axle that has a streetable ratio.

That's genius, right there.

I can do that. In BC, it's called U-Bilt. I can build an entire motorcycle (two or three wheeled), and have it inspected.

I agree, although I'm gravitating towards utility trike use.
