zongshen zs150gy10

I have the opportunity to buy one. It's a 2009 model that is still sitting at the dealership here in Guatemala. I really like the bike. The chassis design, and all the BETTER quality feel to it. I am just concerned about getting mechanical parts for it should I need them, since I can't seem to figure out what this bike is a clone off? or the engine. Can anyone givve me any feedback on it. Is is really a good/better bike for the money?

Welcome!

Can you show us some pics? That would help us to identify the engine. eBay is often the best source for parts.

Welcome to these forums, Rich. We are glad you joined us.

As you have discovered, Jeremy in The Philippines owns a Zongshen ZS150-GY10, and likes it very much. We can't get anyone to tell us the origins of the engine in this bike. It might be a copy of a Japanese engine, or it might be a Zongshen design.

You should be able to get parts for the bike from the Zongshen dealership, or the bike's importer. How good is the deal being offered to you? Jeremy likes his bike, and he has not reported any mechanical problems with it. I think I would buy that bike if the price were right.

Hi Spud,
Sorry it took me this long to get back on this thread. The deal is they want about $1600 down from its original $2600 in 2009. I still think it should be closer to $1000. I went back to look at the bikes again, and am waiting for an answer as to why there is no Cooling fan. One of the bikes I looked at has a stuck master cylinder, and they resolved the issue buy changing it for some other part.

In regards to parts, I am also waiting on an answer regarding stock inventory. I would not hold my hopes to hi, since they brought ONE container with 72 bikes in 2010 and were able to sell only 45 of the lot. So, still waiting on more info. I dont mind having a small import lot bike, In my household, we have 1 Xs650 Yamaha 1979, for which there are no local parts, a YS250 Yamaha 2008 that the dealer only imported 12 of in 2008, but I can get parts for it. A Suzuki GS650GLD 1983 for which I can get part in the States. But without knowing the origin of the Zongshen, and I am unable to locate a version of it in the States I am having second thoughts....

I wouldn't buy a bike for which I couldn't get parts. I believe Zongshen America planned to import this bike, but I don't know if they ever actually did so.

Spud, assuming the Motostar Moto X / R 155 is a development of the Zongshen engine used in the ZS125GY-10 / ZS150GY-10 and the ZS125GY-10C / ZS155GY-10C, then it probably is their own design, like the Air-cooled engine in the Cyclone 'Pursuit' ZS125-50

I was doing a Google Search to try and find out what was the name of the Engine used in the ZS150 GY-10 and the 150/155cc version of the Cyclone 'Pursuit' ZS125-50 (which uses PZ125)

So I assumed it might be PZ150 and searched for that!

One of the Search Hits was this one:-

Chongqing Zongshen Power Machinery Co.,Ltd.

www.zse.cc/newsdetail.aspx?NewsID=1&CateID=18

Quote:
13 New Products of Zongshen Motorcycle Engine Passed Appraisal ...
Commission, and the appraised models included YB110, PG/PZ150, W125, Z110 2-in-1.

So I did a search on www.zse.cc/ website for PG/PZ150

I only found the 125cc Watercooled engine ZS156MI(SB125), not the 155cc Version:-

The water-cooled engine in the CYCLONE 'Fly'

• The cylinder head with rings water grooves and the unique combustion chamber reduce the noise effectively. This cooling system can get best cooling effect and reduce the thermal load of the key parts. In this way ,the life of the engine is lengthened and the performance of the engine is improved.

• Setting the oil channel outside can prevent the lubricant from being heated and get the best lubricating effect.

• Assistant electronically fan and sensitive temperature controller can make the cooling system radiate the heat automatically and keep the water stay in a best status.

So, is this the same bike as found on Jeremy's thread? In theory, the parts can come in from the Phillippines?

As they are being assembled in the Philippines, under the Registered Motor vehicle Development Plan, which equates to low prices due to much lower Import Duty and Taxes then Parts will also be available for the machines /models they assemble and sell.

Or you could buy from the likes of

For example these are Chinese Motorcycle Cylinder Blocks
http://factory.dhgate.com/china/?pag...inder+Block%3B

as well as the complete engines that I showed the link of already.

I hope the durability of the engines lives up. I am planning on buying two of this bikes, soon.

Can anyone get me a digital version of the service manual? The local dealer does not have it. I am interested in the electronic part of it, to retrofit the fan controls, as this bikes seem to be the first edition and came w/o cooling fans.
