We are going to buy his first Dirtbike! How should I do it?

Hey Guys,
I'm ready to go buy little man his first Gas Powered SSR 70! So how do you guys think I should do it? To him this is going to be a BIG day! Should I just go get it and have it in the yard when he gets home from school? Or take him to the dealer with me and let him pick it out? I know this may be silly to some, but I remember my first brandy new bike to this day! Thoughts?

I would say take him to the dealer, that will just add to the memory and it will make sure he gets what he wants too.

I called the dealer in Columbia. They tell me they have a blue one at one of their stores. But total out the door price is 933.00. WOW that is awefully hard to swallow seeing as I can get one from Powersportsmax for 719 shipped. OR, Kourtney at Scooterman USA, told me he can get me an Apollo DB25 for 480 in the crate. WHY is this so hard. Is the extra 450 dollars worth it for the experience of him going to the dealer and having the SSR bike?

Can you order the DB25, assemble it and hide it somewhere? The benefit is that you'll have the opportunity to go over everything before he receives it.

I think you should order the DB25 and have the little man help put it together. That memory will last forever.

I agree with Jerry, although that may depend on age. I know that Son of Weldangrind would not have had the attention span when he got his first bike at nine. When he got his second bike at 11, we bought it in a crate and assembled it together. He couldn't wait to ride it at 11, but by that time he knew the importance of proper prep.

Thanks Guys!! I think that is a FINE idea. Letsride Jr. LOVES to help daddy turn nuts and bolts, so I think that is what I'm gonna do. I think he would love to get a big box and crack it open like the rest of us.

Sounds like a plan. I can remember working on the family cars with my dad. My draught helps me with the oil changes and maintenance on her UTV and 4 wheeler. She has gotten into the habit of checking everything over before she rides.
