Warranty is not an option. I'm the second owner of the bike in the UK. The warranty is still valid, however I'd need to take it to a certain shop which is pretty far away. I will enquire if anything can be done by mail but I'd like to progress while I await an answer.

Spudrider, thanks for all your knowledge and help! Regarding the fuel pump, there are no leaks from the gaskets or bolts. My thinking is if I order a new tank then it's just the tank... I remove all the connecters on my current tank and fit them to the new one. Is it not as simple as this?

You're welcome.

Yes, you would remove the fuel pump and gas cap from your leaking tank, and transfer them to the new tank. You might also want to order a new gasket for the fuel pump. If you don't tear the gasket, you might be able to apply fuel resistant sealant to the old gasket.

I'll look. In the meanwhile, I suggest you read the following thread which describes how to order items from Taobao.

I can' find a blue tank right now, but I'm sure one will show up. Search Taobao using the terms 'ZS250GY-3' and 'Zongshen RX3.' Also, you can ask your agent if one of the other vendors has a blue tank in stock. A good agent will contact the vendor, and relay your request.

Hello Qwert.

Nobody else has mentioned it, so I will speak up. There are a number of coatings that are specifically made for this sort of thing. Kreem and POR-15 are two that come to mind, although I don't know what is available in the UK.

They all are (normally) a multi-step process and it can be pricey for doing just one tank, but the results are good if done right. Many of the "Big Name Custom Bike Builders" use these coatings as part of the process when making their fancy big dollar fuel tanks. That way they don't have to bother with doing good, nonporous welds. You know, minor stuff.

Ask around motorcycle shops or even radiator repair shops if they do the sealing. The reason I mention radiator shops is because often they also repair auto fuel tanks.

Hope this helps, Jay.

Thanks for posting the good tip, Jay. We never know when vibration might cause similar leaks in our fuel tanks.
