My "new" bike

I bought a 91 CB750 Nighthawk because it was a good price. It has 64,xxx miles (it's been all over the place) but that doesn't bother me. I'd rather have a bike with high highway miles that's been maintained instead of one with low miles thats done alot of sitting. It's no parade queen but it's smoother than my thumpers.

Lubed up every little pivoting bolt and such without tearing anything down. Smooth kickstands now. lol Gave it a sloppy cleanup, used Mothers on the machined alloy lips, need to replace the limp rear blinkers. It doesn't look as good in person as is does in the pics.

Anyone else own a NH in the past?

Thats a nice looking bike. Surprised it only has one disk in the front and a drum in the back.

Good choice in bikes. No one's ever been burned by a well maintained Nighthawk.

I'd ridden one on a 1,500 mile tour about 10 years ago and liked it just fine. Good easy to manage power, decent brakes and handling, and pretty comfortable.

Don't sweat the mileage. A well maintained Nighthawk will go an easy 100,000 before needing anything serious.

Where do you live? Looks like a nice day outside.

another NH owner told me about putting bmx pegs on as a cheap way of getting highway pegs.

So 64k is nothing for a well maintained CB750?

Signals are MUCH better. The cheeseball repair on the old ones needed some Viagra.

Nice bike. Should be a good smooth running bike. I've had a couple Honda's and never had any problems with them that I can remember. Very nice bike you got, and I love that color.

I can't believe how much wind I eat on it though (compared to my dual sports). Feels like I'm going to get ripped off the bike. New tacky grips would help but I went ahead and ordered a windshield for it.

Here's my latest pic. The white on the seat stuck out so I put some black paint on it. I think it would look slick with some straight bars and no alien antenna's.

Check your chain tension. Looks a little loose in the picture. Don't change the mirrors if the new ones don't give you a clear look to the rear. The windshield will help a lot. Lower bars might be nice too. Great looking bike.

That's a nice looking bike; I've always liked the Nighthawks. Good call on the BMX pegs. They sorta double as engine guards (ok, not really

Chain is loose? Looks tight to me but I'm comparing it to dirt bikes. Funny thing about the chain. I was cleaning off all the old thick lube and couldn't find a ML. Bike has 64k, is there anyway it could last so many miles?

The guy who told me about the pegs totalled his previous NH and his pegs saved the engine in the crash.

I think in most cases the chain will appear loose while it's on it's center stand but that depends on the geometry of the suspension. Make sure to check your manual and see wether the chain tension should be checked while the bike is on it's center stand or on it's side stand. Also chain temp makes a big difference. If not you could accidently make it too tight when you load the suspesion and prematurely wear out bearings, chains, and sprockets. It's hard to tell just be looking at it.

That's a nice motorcycle, Savage! I like the new turn signals, and the way you bobbed the rear fender.

Looking at your photographs, I recall how pleasant it was to have a center stand.

Those signals do look sweet... Give the bike a whole new look! Nice looking bike. I just sold a 1984 Honda VT500 Ascot a month or so ago and it is amazing how close the looks of the Nighthawk are to the Ascot... Ascot had a square headlight and a funny plastic fairing around it though. Heck, your bike is even the same color as mine was! Kudo's on a good buy

A stock Honda chain on a not too powerful bike might go 20,000 miles, so I expect yours is a replacement. Is ist an O ring? I expect you have a rivited ML which would be hard to identify as a replacement.
