Highest miles on KPX

Hello all,
I have a KPX 250. So far I have a little over 2400 miles on it. It's spring here in Texas and I am starting to ride my motorcycles again. I like my KPX 250 but I am starting to wonder if any of these motorcycles will go past 10,000 miles.
I saw one of the members on this website report that his engine blew up before
9000 miles. I was expecting at least 15,000 miles before any problems.
Does anyone here have more than 9,000 miles on your bike and how many miles did you expect to last before any major mechanical issues?

Thanks,
KPX Randy

I'm at 9850 miles and had planned to have over 10000 miles in by last fall but life and cold weather took up more of my time. I've been diligent about doing valve checks and oil changes so I shouldn't really expect a problem to happen, but like you are aware, there is no precedent on how long we can expect these bikes to last. The only (minor) engine problem I've had was a slight oil leak coming from around the gear indicator module where its bolted on the side of the engine. The O ring gasket was in good shape but I replaced it with a slightly larger diameter O ring gasket and I haven't had any leaking since.

More miles this spring and summer

IdahoRider,
Thanks for your reply. Yes, if you are a KPX 250 owner we are breaking ground.
I have about 3K on mine now and I very seldom go above 60mph. I have had no problems so far. You never know until someone takes a chance but it might turn out to be as reliable as a HONDA. I was willing to take the chance.

I only got about 2500 on it now. But I plan to do several short road trips this year (along with doing food deliver on it). So my guess is I will be close to 15k by end of the year. If all goes well this year I will do a long trip next year with it.

Hope all goes well

Dear Bearded,
You are the type of rider that I wanted to get feedback from. You actually use your KPX in real world situations. Your reviews will help other owners.
I'm getting 82mpg and will be riding this thing as much as I can because of rising gas prices.
I hope your KPX runs well and proves to be dependable.

Good job!

Thanks for posting that pic. It makes me feel more confident in my purchase.
I think it will help others too that may be thinking about buying a KPX 250.

In case you haven't seen the post, 2000 miles of that was an 8 day (mostly) road trip I did to Jasper Alberta last summer.

There are Hawk 250s with 40k miles on them. The KPX is a better quality machine than the Hawks. Have confidence.

I ordered my XPECT 200 yesterday, I expect more upkeep than a Japanese bike but I also expect (hope for) it to last just as long. My first street legal bike many years ago was an 02 zx6r. I put 12,000 miles on it the first year and nearly as many the 2nd and 90% were pretty abusive. I've had lots of dirtbikes, 3 wheelers and a motorcycles. I ride hard but I don't skimp on maintenance.
