NEW RIDERS--DO NOT BUY LIFAN PRODUCTS

from anyone on the internet!!! Weekly, it seems, there is someone, somewhere, who with the little cash the government allows us to have, goes online, purchases a bike, and cannot get it registered by BIG BROTHER (George Orwell-1984) in their state.

ATV Discounters seems to be one of the main culprits, but I really think American Lifan, yes, THE American Lifan, is involved. Two members here purchased GY200-2 models from ATV Discounters, and cannot register them in their state. It seems, according to American Lifan themselves, that they dumped a bunch of unsold GY-2's to ATV Discounters, who is not an authorized dealer for them.

So now, they were happy to get rid of their bikes, and are laughing at those "suckers" who bought them, and cannot register them. According to one member, after calling American Lifan, they actually told him to trade his worthless bike in on a genuine American Lifan bike!

If you really want to consider a Lifan product, go to Hooper Imports. I know that several people have ordered his Lifan, branded as "Skygo" and have not had problems registering them.

The only way I would suggest getting an American Lifan is to go to a dealer, but then I would still have the thoughts of American Lifan employees laughing at me in my head, if my local authorized dealer messes something up and I had to call American Lifan.

Either go to Hooper, or seriously consider another brand altogether--Hi-Bird, Zongshen, Roketa, Shineray, Viva, etc.

You dont have 2 members that bought online, and are having trouble. Its the same person. Your post should say "DONT LIVE IN CT. AND BUY A GY".

All I know is I went to the dealership, bought the bike and the next day I had a liscense plate. There was a little miscommunication between myself and the dealer about what paperwork i needed to get it registered which caused me a couple extra hours of leg work, but it was because i purchased in Wv and he didnt know Ky registration laws.

Im not sayin buy online. Im sayin that the problem with the two case mentioned above are both in CT.In fact they are probably the same case. I laugh every time I see someone get burned on a online bike sale. There are hundreds of horror stories, thousands of threads about why not to do it and what happens? People do it anyways! You get what you deserve. I dont care if 500 of you guys buy from joeblowbike.com and have a great purchase. I wont do it.Its that simple. If you dont by online there is a 100% chance you get the bike you want, and a dam good chance there will be 0 probs with tagging it.

I think what he's saying is that it might be the same person under a different name in ct. N2r

I think this is a dealer discussion, Pm me if I'm wrong and I'll move it again.

I didn't by online and had problems registering, but my dealer got it done.

There isn't alot of local options for buying china bikes so its make online purchases more appealing.

I think we have narrowed down the good online dealers for mosts brands.

Has anybody had trouble buying a Hi-Bird? 8O

I might be wrong, but I haven't even heard anything bad about'em yet. 8)

I wonder what the difference is?

They mostly seem to be shipped too. :P

Hmmmm.

Maybe warranties aren't as big a concern for them as others?

(and yes, used alot of smileys for an adult.)

Glad i bought a Zongshen

With all this stuff happening between American Lifan and the grey market, I am certainly happy I bought a Zongshen.

The big question is though, how can American Lifan, in their zeal to take over the market act so unscrupulous and still believe their sales will grow? Its the people who are in the field that promote a product and get it to the masses, the consumers who spend their money and buy the product.

I could not afford a Kawasaki KLR or I would have gotten one, now A.L. seems out of greed to want to make their products just as far out of reach.

What a lousy plan. Glad I'm riding my Zongshen Sierra 200! And looking for a Shineray XTM 300 when they come out.....Lifan? Whats that? Already forgot about'em

Some people were importing Lifans from China without the EPA certification in thier name. They were illegally using Americn Lifans EPA certification to get them through Customs from my understanding.
