TT250 needs a new pair of shoes

The stock tires on the TT250 are shot. The front is cupping and the rear is getting thin. Could probably get another 500 - 1,000 out of them, maybe more if I flip the front tire. I have wet and snowy weather ahead (I ride nearly year round in CO at 9,000 ft) and need some new rubber.

I ride a mix of hard packed dirt/gravel roads and blacktop for my commute with the occasional trail jaunt. The dirt and gravel seem to eat up tires even more so than the blacktop.

The stock tires aren't bad but only lasted ~3,000ish miles so far.

I have Kenda 270's on the RX3. I have run Shinko 244's when I had a KLR650. The Kenda's for what ever reason don't seem to behave as well in the corners on pavement as the Shinko's even though they have essentially the same tread pattern. I had a Shinko 700 front and Mefo Explorer rear on the KLR650 at one point as well.

Been looking at/leaning toward the Shinko 244's primarily due to 1. previous experience. 2. they seemed to wear well on the KLR for both paved and dirt. 3. they're cheap.

What's everybody else running for tires?

these are what I like & use...

Shinko 700 for a 50/50 everything tyre
on my XT660R.. the larger bridged side blocks make it
a good cornering tyre on the road...

If you ride road and hard pack ground... Shinko 705 or Kenda 761
could be the way to go...

If you want something a little more gnarly in a true knobbly
The Michlin AC10 rear is a dam good tyre... But the front AC10 is crap..

for all out offroad my choice is
Golden Tyre GT216 or GT333 front / GT230 rear..
on the 250...but have a AC10 rear /GT333 front on at
the moment .. seem to work quite well togeather..
but have Tubliss's .. so most tyres work well at 6psi...

I am running the shinko sr241s. I really like the tire, they perform alot better than the stock hawk knobbies, both on road and off-road.

They seem to get pretty amazing wear. I've put about 800 miles of mostly pavement riding and have very little wear and rounding, the knobs are still sharp. they're shaped well for good cornering on road. I've taken these tires off-roading many times and they hook up really well. They even stick in mud. I've ridden them on the mx track aswell with pretty good success had significantly more wheel slideouts (front and back) with the stock knobbies than i did with these. They're not the holy grail of off-road tires, but they work great ime!

I have a Hawk 250 and run the Shinko 244s front and rear. I like they way they handle on the blacktop. The stock Hawk knobbies probably handle the dirt better, but I ride on blacktop too much.

Enjoy the Ride!

241 is a trials tyre / trials block patten anyway..
nothing wrong with them.. a forgotten about/over
looked tyre by a lot of duel sport riders..
there was a time when they were the only duel sport
tyre you could buy... were the standard tyre on
every duel sport/trail bike from the factory...
as your choice was... trials patten / knobbly or road tyre...

I'm running Shinko 244's too. I like them a lot better than the stock tire. I put about 500 miles on them so far. Way better on the dirt, and they handle great on the road too.
