Big Sky

I was out riding yesterday and explored some open desert area. No trails, just stand up and gas it and lean back and pick a direction and go.

That's big sky and a sea of grass. Aren't there any rocks to avoid?

Not in this area, strangely enough. I was able to run the KLX semi-comfortably at 25-35 over all that stuff . This went on for a few miles. It's hard to tell but this is on a slope that gets steeper and steeper and ends up on a hill about 2,000 feet above town. The Blue Mountains with their receeding snowline is on the horizon but not quite visable in this picture.

I may have T-boned some prarie dogs and rattlesnake though. The grasses and sage and occasional cactus are at their maximum this time of year after winter rain and growth. They will soon be gone/reduced a lot by the heat of summer and months of no rain.

Even with the taller grass this is a good time to ride as it's not too hot and there is minimal dust.

You would be hitting large, nasty rocks in Idaho. 8O They don't call them the Rocky Mountains for nothing.
