That's a beautiful drive. I recommend camping at the halfway point, which is the David Thompson highway.

Good idea, there are campgrounds in that area? My ex and I did a trip through there way way back but I can't really remember it as it was too quick of a trip. We should have stopped and smelled the flowers more

There are (as I remember), but that was about 17 years ago. I encourage you to check the Travel Alberta site, and I think you'll find a terrific spot within a few clicks of the Icefields Parkway.
