Thumbs Up Good experience with Powersportsmax.com

My 3+ week ordering-to-plates process here in MASS:
  • 2017/04/28 - Placed online order for a “MC-D31A 150cc Moped Scooter” from Powersportsmax.com. Paid with Mastercard
  • 2017/04/30 - Trouble with shipping/billing address discrepancy - they required me to fill out and submit a detailed verification form
  • 2017/05/01 - Order Verified
  • 2017/05/02 - Order sent to Warehouse
  • 2017/05/04 - Order flagged as Shipped
  • 2017/05/04 - I immediately requested the VIN number from Powersportsmax
  • 2017/05/05 - I received VIN number from Powersportsmax then checked it against the online NHTSA VIN decoder — turns out this is a 2015 — not 2016 or 2017 — JiaJue JJ150T-16 model. Further, the NHTSA VIN decoder returned errors, which means I may need to get a State Trooper to verify my VIN when it comes time to register it. We’ll see. Note: 2016 and later JiaJue models don’t return errors via NHTSA, only 2015 and earlier! :(
  • 2017/05/07 - emailed NHTSA to point out that their database is missing data
  • 2017/06/08 - NHTSA responded that they are aware of problems and will look into my situation
  • 2017/05/08 - Call received from shipper to confirm delivery date on 05/10
  • 2017/05/10 - Call received from shipper with new delivery date on 05/11
  • 2017/05/11 - Item delivered (99% fully assembled) in good condition. Yay!
  • 2017/05/11 - I visually confirmed VIN and photographed it as documentation for use later. I then requested from Powersportsmax a Notarized MSO via their online form
  • 2017/05/12 - In the meantime, I began in-depth scooter inspection process (i.e. checked all hoses, nuts, electrical connections, tire pressure, oil, etc.). No rush. I took my time. Only minor issues found. Plan to replace all hoses and rubber soon as this scooter has clearly been sitting in a warehouse for 2+ years.
  • 2017/05/16 - NHTSA informed me that they have fixed the data for 2015 Jiajue scooters — my VIN no longer throws errors. Yay!
  • 2017/05/19 - received Notarized MSO & Bill of Sale from Powersportsmax and verified that VIN matches
  • 2017/05/21 - purchased insurance online from Progressive, who then sent me a filled out RMV-1 Application form to take to the MASS RMV
  • 2017/05/21 - took completed RMV-1 Application Form + other docs to Massachusetts RMV office to obtain plates. In spite of technically requiring CARB compliance here in Massachusetts, my application for registering this scooter passed with flying colors. Other than getting the bike inspected, I’m now all legal here in MASS. Yay!

P.S. while I probably didn't need the notarized MCO, I still feel it was the right move given that the VIN was initially throwing errors.

It's a 150cc. I'll be happy with 75-80mpg.
(I don't trust what any of the sellers are claiming)
