Doh! Best Grom Clone

Hi there.

I have looked high and low on the Internet for a Grom Clone comparison to figure out the best model to buy.

As a 14 year old I saved up to buy a Yamaha AS2 125 $500+ when I was 14 hustling cold drinks in the Cotton Bowl when the Cowboys and SMU played football there.

I went through a dirt bike stage in my 20’s. I have owned several name brand road bikes totaling out to 8 motorcycles in my life. It is unbelievable how much name brand motorcycles cost now.

At 67 I want a Grom, but don’t want to part with that much coin.

Here's one writeup on Grom clones: https://www.simplymotorcycle.com/honda-grom-clone/

Also consider the Lifan, with 150cc: https://www.americanlifan.com/191.html
Lifan is a well-respected brand in the Chinabike world.

Do a Youtube search on "honda grom clone 125cc" and you will find a lot. Here's a good one:

The Vader lineup (there are a few models) are popular bikes here on Chinariders, and have proven to be relatively reliable clones. Contact Pete at Kronik Racing. He has a brick and mortar store in the Los Angeles area (the Vaders are California street legal--not a lot of Chinese bikes are legal there) and mail-orders the bikes nationwide. He generally has the lowest prices on them, and is very mechanically knowledgeable. He also sells the Lifan KP Mini (as was suggested as well--great bike for the money, but a lot more $. Worth it if you have the extra cash--probably more worth it than the Grom, itself) Call him up. https://www.kronikracing.com/scooters.html

Given your experience and budget, I'd suggest looking into Grom clones like the SSR Razkull 125 or the TaoTao Hellcat 125. They offer similar experiences at a lower cost. Always remember to check reviews and ensure the bike fits your needs before purchasing.

I can't share too much yet, but we are launching a Grom competitor in Q4......

It is decked out with features.....and will be MUCH faster out the box...

It's not a clone, simply another option, but one we hope the USA market will enjoy

IMO this is your competition. $2300 at Venom delivered. Curious to see what you come up with.

Missing in this conversation is the RPS Condor. Probably the benchmark to aim for today.

Very similar specs to the Lifan SS3, but a bit cheaper. How is the quality compared to Lifan?

I got a PM asking me not post about the bike, as I'm not a paying vendor, which I'll respect @JerryHawk250....

It's impressive to see your passion for motorcycles! Given your experience, a Grom clone might indeed be a good fit for you, especially considering the cost of name brand bikes nowadays. Have you considered looking into brands like TaoTao or Boom? They offer some reliable models at a fraction of the cost of a Honda Grom. Best of luck finding the perfect ride!
