Tall bike now

Now that I've put on the Progressive Suspension Shock, 19" front wheel, Shinko 800 series tires, Tall Seat Concepts seat, my bike is now "adult" sized. It went from a 30.9" standover to 33.25". From flat footed to tippy toes. I've done each of these things over time so as my skills have improved my confidence has also and it doesn't bother me to have the bike this tall now. My latest project was to extend the length of the footpad as the bike really leans over even with the CSC added footpad. I had some thick rubber matting from our horse barn and jacked it up. I simply cut the mat to the shape of the footpad using a jigsaw, drilled holes to match the pattern for the bolts that hold the top of the pad to the base, purchased M6x1x40mm bolts, some washers and nylon lock nuts. I drilled into the bottom of the rubber to allow room for the nuts to recess in there. I of course used stainless steel gear. Works great as my bike sits in it's original lean angle taking some pressure off the kickstand.

Now I know how you earned your Baja nickname.....

Plus his wife is a horse trainer and that kickstand foot looks like a horsy hoofy. Good , simple idea to fix the length problem FJ.

Rear LED lights for $3

I was strolling through WalMart the other day, and came across some trailer lights on clearance. These are the kind that'd mark the center of a wider trailer. They are three LED's wired together, sealed and mounted on a stainless steal strip.

I like the idea of extra light to wake up texting/sleepy early morning drivers, and figured these would work well. I added some reflective tape, and mounted them to the top box. Other then giving it a bit of a 'Gold wing' look, I like the greater presence.

I like this. So some may not like the aesthetics, or think it's not so cool (this is just my imagination of the naysayers). I think it looks good and neatly done and tremendously effective.

I'm thinking maybe I'll rewire it. Two outside lit with tail light. Middle lighting with the brake. Pretty straight forward.

Head Scratching New spot LED

I couldn't resist not getting these for $23 (with the mounts). There not wired in yet, but hooked up to a battery showed me they are very bright! The accessory wires look pretty thin... how much can they handle!

for kicks and giggles I installed the "police version " engine guards I got at CSC during the Baja trip. They don't cover as well as the stock, Stick out wider, but good enough for my riding needs. Make getting to engine easier and provide a dandy place for my feet like highway pegs if needed. We'll see how they work this summer. I just liked freeing up room to get to the engine easier. And since I don't crash should be OK with them. RJ
