Does anyone know if all parts are available for the hawk? My seat got damaged in shipping. I contacted the seller about it and they say they'll offer me $20 credit back to my card, but I'd prefer a new seat because once there's a tear in the seat there's no stopping it. And eventually I'll be sitting on the foam.

All done via Mail. The reason they do it, Revenue!

The only problem with registering it in another state is, it's basically illegal. When you move to another state, you are supposed to transfer your registration to the new state, usually within 30 days. That's how it is in NY anyways...So the "white lies' might be needed if you ever get stopped in NJ and they ask how long you've lived there and why you have not transferred your plates yet.

Not to mention all the hassle... I would think you'll have to get the bike inspected in that state, etc...But hey, I guess do what you have to do.

And $20 for a replacement seat is an insult...you couldn't even have it repaired for that.

Yeah, it definitely sounds like some hassle.

I looked up the seat on the rps site and it goes for $95 plus shipping cost. The tear in the seat is not a hugh deal now, but it will be as the bike gets used since it's on the edge of the seat right where your leg hits. It's funny how they state on their shipping notification email
"Avoid rejecting shipment at all costs! If there's a damaged part we will replace it"
It's funny because the seat cost 10% the price of the bike.

On another note... I was looking at the manual and it states that the chain is an O ring chain! I guess they pay attention to what the buyers are complaining about and make adjustments accordingly.

The bike seems worth every bit of $3 to $4K. Sure, there are some cheap parts, but it's pretty well built otherwise.

Here's a quirky thing... the steering can lock via the key, but the only problem is is that you can't get the key out of the ignition with the steering in the lock position... at least I can't on mine.

So the law depends on your state. NJ I imagine would frown upon it. There are many CT residents that have vacation property up north. I have a friend with multiple cars that he keeps registered out of state and he alternates them so not one of them are in CT for 6 months or more. His town sent him a letter to which he showed them all his registrations and his deed. They can't do squat about it.

With the Enforcer I see no reason to get creative with the DMV. I plan on transferring my Hawk reg to NH once my reg expires in Nov. I have some property up there so it is easy.

Jerry, I can't get the key out for the life of me. Is there a trick? Also, in which position is the chock off? The carbs are crap on these bikes... the idle fluctuates all over the place.

Pistolclass, I'm not what I'm going to do yet. I may just sell the bike and buy a nj legal one.

No real trick. with the wheel turned all the way to the left I turn the key counter clockwise and remove the key. The choke off is all the way down. The carb is good once you get access to the idle mixture screw and turn it out about 1 1/2 turns and shim the needle up with two small washers. I can start it with out having to choke it and will idle. On cold days I just have to put it half choke to start. You will get better top end if your go to a larger main jet. At least a 110 main on stock exhaust.

Jerry,

I assume the idle mixture screw is under that gold cap and has to be drilled out?

Also, where do I. It the jet and is there a part number?

Thanks

My hawk runs great with the 110 main with stock exhaust and airbox. Im a little lean on the pilot. I should be at a 22.5 or 25 but I have the stock 20 in there and my needle set at the most rich setting. The goal is to have this puppy in the middle. When it warms up I will put the pilot jet and change the needle and mixture screw.

Jerry said that he put two washers on the needle under the clip to open it up more. Have you tried that?

These are the ones I ordered. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 The screw at the top is you idle mixture screw. I had a black plastic cap on mine. Next down is your slow jet and the bottom one is your main.
