Mrs. 2LZ Retirement

Finally,....sheesh. Set for March 15th. I thought she was going to drag this out longer than cheesy.

Also, she goes on vacation after today for a week and a half, so much of that time will be spent with friends in Alaska at the Iditarod again. That also gives me a week and a half off here to spend time with my bikes and dog! Why I don't go? Well....someone has to feed the dog, right? Plus....IT'S ALASKA AND IT'S WINTER! I'll stay by my wood stove thanks.

She has been working from her home office since Covid....and as luck would have it, she was in a meeting earlier this week and starting in March, employees will be required to go back into the office 2-3 days a week, depending on unit. Her exit timing is perfect. Being a 60 mile drive one direction, this will save us a ton in CA's average $4.50 a gallon gas.

What will change? if course, she's home now, and will be after she retires. The biggest change is I won't have to be as quiet as a freaking Church Mouse all day anymore!

Party coming....... I'll post pics!

LOL! Actually, I've been "serving my Queen" since I retired! I'm looking forward to her chipping in now that she's not working full time!

Congrats You will both have a couple of spare hands around now, and yes, working quietly rules out the sander and other stuff sometimes. I know the drill (which I CAN use )!

Yes, cutting drum tracks on the other side of her office wall was NOT an option! LOL!

I'll be keeping her busy with our new project. She enjoys wrenching and we've done a number of projects together. She's the best apprentice I've ever had!

Well, she's off to the Iditarod with a bunch of our friends this week and having a dandy time. Not working it in the outback this time but they are all in Anchorage for the pre-race festivities. She knows mushers there and was able to set everyone up with a dogsled ride, actually driving the team of eight around a course thats part of the Iditarod Trail. My accident prone neighbor (who I sold the RX3 to) has already been tossed off a dog sled. Thankfully the dogs know the route.

Nice and quiet around the house with just me, Spot and "that gawdam cat".
Other than Stormagedon hitting us at the moment, it's been very peaceful!

Well, today two of my buddies "ran with the reindeer". No physical damage....not a single bandaid. I'm a little depressed!

Well, my vacation is almost over, they fly in tonight at midnight, then the two hour carpool home. Neighbor left his big SUV at the airport and shuttled the whole gang. That means I get to sleep!
When I wake up tomorrow morning, I'll probably smell reindeer shit, mixed with vodka/seltzer breath.....and lots of snoring. Guess I'll let her sleep in......
The good part is, while she was gone, I finalized everything and got all our financial ducks lined up, so landing the retirement plane should be basically painless.
I can't wait to see what the first few weeks of her freedom will entail. I'm guessing a lot of time at the shooting range.

Congratulations to her and to you, Sir!!!
New phase . Now you both can get into lengthy arguments without time limits, till y'all forget what it was about! All the peace and none of the distraction. No petty things like "work" to get in the way of enjoying your days! WooHoo!
