Don't Go Grizzly Bear Hunting with a Harley!

I just received the following email, and photographs from my good friend, Andy! 8O

This grizzly was hit by a Harley on Lolo Pass. This is the pass between Lolo, MT and Kooskia, ID. Look at the claws on that sucker! The biker spent three days in the hospital! The hog's a wreck! Lesson learned: Don't go Bear Hunting with a Harley, they don't last but one hunt!

Another "tip":

Harleys are not specifically trailer friendly. Though, if you do battle with a house trailer, and get off before you hit the house trailer, the trailer WILL lose. (small entry hole, LARGE exit hole, contents of trailer will litter the highway)

Well, it seems the grizzly bear shown above was not hit by a motorcycle. Apparently, it was hit by a truck.

Also, the location of the accident might have been near Lincoln, Montana, rather than Lolo Pass. I guess you can't trust everything you read in emails, even if they come from honest, well-intentioned friends.

I think that bear would survive the motorcycle. What a monster.

..with that said, I really hate seeing dead animals of any kind.

I think you're correct, Turbo. Upon further reflection, I don't think a motorcycle would have much of a chance killing that particular grizzly bear.

I sincerely hope the photographs were not too graphic, Turbo. I am amazed at the growing amount of cruelty displayed on television, and in the movies. I don't enjoy viewing cruelty, and I respect others who dislike seeing it. I used to hunt, and raise domestic rabbits; therefore, I have done my share of killing animals. However, I always harvested the animals for food, and I did not kill purely for sport.

I'm glad I did not see any brown bears, but I've ridden Lolo Pass a few times and it is one of the most beautiful roads in America.

That Grizzly bear, is one of this earth's majestic creatures. Their numbers, like the Polar Bear's, are dwindling and while I realize this one's death was an accident, it's still a real shame to see it taken from this earth.

I have no use for 'trophy' or 'sport' killing of anything. I understand 'most' who hunt do it for the meat, but I sometimes wonder if the lust of shootin the gun and killing something is the lure, and not they think the moose or dear tastes so good.
